My daughter is seriously considering having her wedding this fall at Lake Lanier Islands Resort and she told me last night that they have a campground there, so we could bring the RV! Yay! Has anyone been there?

Have you checked to see if the have a campground at Lake Lanier Islands? I honestly don't recall. There are a number of COE campgrounds on Lake Lanier however, including Old Federal. Some of them close in Oct. You might want to go on-line and get the details. Best of luck, lizzie
Yeah, I know they have 2 campgrounds owned by the resort, but I was wondering if anyone had stayed at either one. In researching it more, I found out that the one is not open in October, but the other - Shoal Creek Campground, I believe, is open. Has anyone been there? We were wondering what it was like. We will definitely be driving the RV up there, but may leave it at my daughter's house once we get there. Not sure yet.
You may want to contact JGRVING on this forum. She lives close to Lake Lanier and gave us some very helpful tips about Old Federal a couple of years back.
The campground is an old state park campground and the sites are pretty small- originally designed for tents and popups. Water & Electricity only. We have not stayed there, but have ridden through to check it out. We prefer Old Federal Campground, a Corps of Engineers campground about 10 miles north. It's on the lake too, but has better sites with more room. There are several other COE parks around the lake.

You can do a lot better than Lake Lanier Islands. We were there 4 years ago and that was enough. Old, tight removed for starters. Recommend the COE parks on Lanier of which Old Federal would rate very high.
We've stayed at Sawnee COE park a few times. It's a nice park, but I'm not sure if they're open in Oct.
There are also state parks nearby, but may be a bit of a drive if you want to be really close to Lake Lanier. Check out the driving distances to CGs around Alatoona Lake, Red Top Mountain SP, Vogel SP, Unicoi SP, & Amicalola Falls SP.
