I have a 33ds with a gauge for the transmission mounted above and to the right of the radio on the dash. The problem is it never moves. How do I check it to fix it?

The gauge works. You have not got it hot enough to read on the gauge. If you want to read it digitally. Get a ScanGauge II. It will start reading at 0 degree's F.

I was wondering the same thing. I have an 09 Jayco Seneca 36MS. I know the transmission has gotten hotter than the bottom line as the extra fan has kicked in on some uphills pulling a trailer. The gauge has yet to move off the bottom number.

Even if fan comes on Trans Oil may not read that high. Sensor is up by radiator. You can see it when hood is open on passenger side of radiator.

agree with the above, they have really good cooling on the transmissions, mine will hardly ever move, and when it does its just barely........

I read the trans temp on my Edge Attitude and I have never seen it over 180. Most of the time it is in the 160s. The stock gage hardly moves at all.

That gage was a question on my first stop at the Chevy truck place with my '06 Seneca. I was assured it was working but the truck was not working hard enough to bring the needle off the peg. I have actually seen it move a little going up the grapevine South on the 5 when the temperature was in the high 90's and I had the car behind me on a caddy. These are commercial class 5 trucks most of us drive like the cars we own and take care of ourselves and not ridden hard and put away wet like the tow trucks and delivery vehicles the were designed to be. That is why I went with this size vehicle.

I replaced my gauge when I installed my pyrometer. My new transmission gauge has a lower level and the comments are correct, the gauge rarely moves. I do notice when I'm traveling down freeways or hills it stays constant, however, when I'm in traffic or traveling in town I assure you all it moves and it can be rapid during hot summers that we see in CA. Replacing the gauge and installing a pyrometer was one my best investments.
