Anyone have any experience with this product? The idea sounds good.

I have used it for over 2 years and it works great. The latest update has realyy made it more user friendly. We got rid of 3 file cabinets if paperwork and since we full time that was really important. Make sure you save a copy of your files to an offsite storage so that you have a back up inc ase you loose the computer or even worse the Rv. We use carbonite and it paid for itself in the first 2 months we had it. Hard drive crash. Back to the Neat Desk. It is quick and simple and once you have the documents downloaded you arrange them in whatever files you want.

For around $150 or less you can get a high quality all in one photo printer, fax, scan and copy....like the HP 7510.
(we have had one for a couple of months...very happy with it.)
It will scan anything and you can save them as files on your computer in a number of different formats.
Downside is that it is bigger than the unit you linked to...if space is a concern.

Also, if you are only concerned with scanning documents and not high quality photos, check out Doxie. Small, easy to use and inexpensive.

There is no way to compare a neatdesk with a simple scanner. The main concept isn't even the same.
I use one at work and it has eliminated a million sheets of paper lost in filing cabinets and I can find anything in seconds from any device.
I even use it to scan all my student's work before I give it back to them and it keeps those records. I love that it automatically makes most documents searchable by the words in the document.

No argument, but most of us typical users aren't looking to deal with millions of pieces of paper.......

That is why you buy NeatReceipts for $199.99. It is the same software just a more compact mobile scanner.

For most things that I may need the original for, I tape them to the bottom of them. Like all the TV's in my house have the receipt and the extended warranty taped to the bottom of them. Washer and dryer papers are in a zip lock taped to the side of them.

I have a question, tho - what happens if you are required to "have the original receipt" for a warranty repair or something like that? Save those most likely to be needed and scan the rest? I like the idea of the Neatdesk.
