Just replied to another thread (about the Titan) but decided to start my own:
I know many of you love your Big 3 diesel 1-tons and that's great, but I'm curious if the following truck would peak your interest.
Would you take a look at:
Tundra DRW 3500 w/ available 4500 version
small Mack I6 turbo diesel
8sp auto trans, with optional 8sp automated manual
Nothing against any of the existing offerings- I'd happily drive any new Big 3 diesels if it was in my budget- but I think that'd be my dream truck if executed properly.

2007 Volvo XC90 AWD V8

6100lb GVW 5000lb tow
Sure...competition is good for all of us...
But, You didn't add in the wish that this truck you would like to see would also be half the price of the Big 3 offerings...
Then you would really have my attention.

About the only way we are going to get cheaper diesels, is on a smaller platform. The 3/4 to 1 ton prices are about a wash, so it would have to be a 1/4 ton (compact) truck, with somwhere in the 1.5 to 2.5 liter TD.

Amen brother! You can buy houses all day in Phoenix for less than a loaded up, brand-new crew cab 4x4 turbo diesel pickup costs, LOL.
If they cared to get in the consumer pickup game, a Mack chassis with a Mack diesel would work just fine as well; my main thing is, I want a small Mack inline TD with an 8-sp automated manual in a crew cab 1-ton 4x4 truck
