The MiFi uses cell service and a phone number. Check with Verizon for plans.

You can get a no contract MiFi on the Verizon network from Millenicom.com. Their 20GB 3G/4G plan uses Verizon, and their unlimited (actually 50GB) 3G/4G plan is on Sprint.

If you have a Verizon 4g smart phone you can set up your own WiFi for $1/day. They say $30/month but you can turn off and on as needed. WiFi data usage is also unlimited. Or you can cheat and use Foxfi for nothing added to the regular data charge.
