Sams club is now selling these tires for rv's has any one on the forum used them are they any good or should we still spend the extra money to get the goodrich commercial 16" tires & rims. I now have the towmaster tires and they don't wear too long, had one blow out, replaced with a goodyear marathon also made in china it didn't wear as long as the tow masters did. Funny they look like they came out of the same mold. Tread pattern is the same only side wall is different? I thought I was buying a US made tire boy was I wrong. Anyway back to the question how about the E rated greenballs are they any good or stay away from them? I use my travel trailer as much as I can in summer its about 8600 pounds ready to go camping on a scale by it self unhooked from the truck. Thanks for your replys. Dan

Caution!!!!!!!!! I had 235 80 16 Ds on my trailer, ran 2200 miles and the side walls developed bubbles, so no more GREENBALL FOR ME. Go for the brand that has a better rating. If Sams will stand behind them, and replace if anything goes wrong, then its up to you.

Our rig came with Greenball Transmasters which are still being sold at our local Discount Tire. We did manage to get 3 camping seasons out of them, but when we upgraded a couple of years ago, we went with a set of 15" Maxxis ST tires and they have delivered superior service thus far on our 32' 10K pound TT. As ST tires go, Maxxis are about the best bet currently available.

I run the greenball towmasters on both my boat and RV. Excellant tire. 5 years now and plenty of miles on the boat with only one blowout due to hitting a 4x4 board on I-77.

I've run Greenball Towmasters for the past 3 yrs and well over 15000 miles. We've had 1 incident. Was not the tires fault but the shotty brackets that hold the finder skirts or suppose to hold the skirts, broke loose from the fender & got into the tire & pealed off part of the tread. The 3 remaining Greenballs still are in excellent condition with lots of tread. I have no complaints with em.

Thanks all, it seems that more people in this small sample had ok luck then bad luck with the greenball tires. I wonder why Sams sells this brand when they also sell other goodyear tires. You would think they would sell the goodyear marathons? I haven't gotten much life from the marathon. Pricy and they not a very good tire. I wish I could find the maxxis in my area I might give them a try. Anyway I really want to go with new 16" rims and the BF Goodrich commercial tires everything I've read about them said they stand up very good on rv's. In fact I don't remember reading any posts that said they had any trouble with them? So I better just do it and quit worring about my tires every time I take a trip. Thanks ALL !!! Dan

The Greenball tires you mention will have a load rating of 2830 at 80 psi (or thereabouts) each. There are two different load ratings for BFGCTA, depending on the tire size. One is 2680 at 80 psi and the other is 3042 at 80 psi. Either one of the BFGCTA requires new rims. You haven't specified specifically what load range your current tires are, but based on your weights and the fact that you had a Marathon on there (which are not made in load range E), I am guessing you have the ST225/75R15 load range D which is rated 2540 @ 65 PSI. I doubt that your current rims are rated for the 80 PSI of the load range E, so you are looking at getting new rims anyway. If you are going with new rims, either one of the BFGCTA tires (there are actually 5 sizes with the two different load ratings that will work) will be an improvement.
The BFGCTA LT225/75R16E most closely matches the diameter of your current tires. It is 1.5 inches larger in diameter (approximate). This will have the following effects:
1. It will raise your trailer 3/4"
2. It will take up an extra 3/4" in the wheel wells -- make sure you maintain at least 3" there.
3. It will reduce the space between tires on adjacent axles by 1.5" -- make sure you maintain at least 1" there.
4. It will virtually eliminate your tire problems.
For the record, I am running the BFGCTA LT245/75R16E on a 32' fiver that typically has 10100 pounds on the axles.
