Yesterday went to a Ford dealer in Pheonix to have the DW Taurus serviced. While I was waiting I went out to look at the pickups. They had about 25 2011 pickups left on the lot.One of them was a white XL work truck with hardly any options.I looked at it and the 8200 GVW just jumped out at me. Since the salesman was dogging me,I asked him to unlock the truck so I could look it over.It was a no nonsense work truck with ecoboost,$1750, max trailer$845, and HD package 1500 and a CD stereo, and 4wd.I couldnt use it because it was to long 163 wb,SC with 8 ft bed and only had the 26 gal tank.Might be a deal for somebody. As I left they were throwing out numbers like 28K.Another thing that surprised me was it had a build date of 0911.I thought
trucks built in sept would be 2012 models.

Wouldn't that be 9/11/11 as a build date? If it was a 4x2 configuration the 26 gallon tank was all that was available. the 35 gallon is now available only with 4 wheel drive models as an option. The 35 gallon tank was standard on my last HD (04 model).

Thanx for reply Skip
Hard to know exact build date as Ford only puts month and year on door sticker.
I guess I thought 35 gal tank standard in 4wd.I thought the price was good though.

$28K isn't a bad price but it IS a stripped truck (as was my 04 model). I think I got it for 24XXX. About all it had on it was cruise and tilt, HD (which means max tow included) but Hd package itself had a lot more items then.

And you didn't test drive it? What a missed opportunity.

You are right rex.I knew if I tested it,I might buy it.I will get one later,it will have the 6.5 box and a 35 galtank.I have a favorite camp area at Anza Borrego park in Calif, and I like to be able to tank up in Yuma and being able to return to Yuma without having to put any PRC gas in it.Prices can vary up to 50 cents a gallon.

Skip, just curious, but how much more is it to go with the F250 over the HD F150 on a comparable trim line? Seems like the 250 would be the way to go if it was not that much more expensive.

I guess price goes with the area. I know down here, that truck is way over priced at $28K. The Ford dealer in town has several very similar trucks on the lot and the price he is willing to sell for is close to $6K less.

For SOME buyers, price isn't the only consideration.

When I started this topic I thought it would be of more interest.

of 86 F150 and F250 trucks,1 was a HD 150.Rare unless you order it.

Skip Thanx for the replys,The max towing is no longer included it is an option

Ron3rd Since HD150s are so rare,I expect a lot of people find a 250 on the lot they like for 2or3 grand more.
i would get one if the gas milage was a little better, range is more important.

Texan I dont believe you can get a Scab HdF150 with ecoboost,4wd,max trailer and upgrade stereo and Cd for $22000.I said it was offered at 28 and you said they had them in Texas for 6,000 less

Happy RVing
