I am looking into purchasing a Fleetwood Motorhome and have heard that the 2008's and newer come with a diesel filter and can have issues. I have had issues with the DPF on my Ford truck and do not want to deal with that in a motorhome. Just wondering if anyone has any input on this subject. The wife likes a 2008 model but I would rather go with a 2007 just so I don't have to deal with the diesel filter issue.

The bigger engines have fewer issues with the DPF system and in fact, hardly ever go into regen like pickups do.

We have the DPF on our 425 hp Cummins and it has been flawless. Not one problem in 52,000 miles and 5 yrs. of ownership. Every once in a while it will go into regeneration but not too often. A light on the dash will illuminate when the process is activated.
I would not hesitate to purchase another one.

All diesel engines have fuel filters. Or perhaps I am missing something here.

A DPF is not a FF. A Diesel Particulate Filter is in the exhaust stream and removes, stores and eventually burns exhaust particulate (regen process).

I am talking about the DPF on the 2008 or newer Moho, Just hoping that they dont have the same problems like we had on our 2008 Truck. The wife really likes the 2008 Fleetwood 39R, and I am saying to stay away from 08 or newer cause of the DPF. We are looking for any info regarding that DPF , Pros or Cons,
Any help greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the bigger DPF motors do fine in mostly highway driving. In my experience (fire service) they are an absolute nightmare- our rigs have to do a parked regen (20-40 minutes) every 5-7 days. But admittedly this application is much different from that of a motorhome.

rjstractor, what is a 'parked' regen? You let the motor run?
You know, I just don't read a lot about people having trouble with the DPF.

Actually I beleive particulate filters started with the 2008 model year. That is why we ordered our 06 pre emission engine. Had enough with our 03 trucks with EGR valves and 06 DPF exhaust systems!

Most of the problems come with in town driving and lots of idling. You shouldn;t have any real issues with highway driving that your most likely to do with a DP Coach.
