I don't know about your needs, but I need a 50 amp service to plug my TT in. So, it would be hard to tell from just that little information.

Can you plug your TT into a 20 amp receptacle at home? Yes. BUT!!!
There are 20 amp 120 volt receptacles, 30 amp 120 volt receptacles, and 50 amp 240 volt receptacles.
The 50 amp works like your house. 220 volts on each side of ground or a total of 240 volts. Half your house works on one side. The other half works on the other side.
If you have 50 service to your TT you will only get half of everything working if you plug into a 30 amp or 20 amp receptacle.
If you have a 30 amp service in your TT if you plug into 20 amp you will be just limited to current consumption.
Some heavy duty things may not work, like A/C etc.

30A to 15A adapter
With adapter you can plug your 30A trailer power cord into a 110V AC 15A receptacle but you will be limited to 15 amps total draw (1650-1800 watts)

Most RV's including trailers have either a 30 or 50 amp plug, HOwever as someone said "It depends on what you are doing"
Plug in at home to pre-cool the fridge, and/or keep batteries charged, You can use a standard 15/20 amp outlet with the proper adpater from Wal-Mart or your favorite RV supply. NOTE that it does not matter if rig is 30 or 50 amp, you only need at most 10 to 13. Likely much less.
Run your air conditioenr, Minimum 30
Run air conditioners (Plural) and heat water and/or microwave.. 50

If you're going with a dedicated circuit to plug in at home, you should go with 30a, just like what you see at the campgrounds.
However, if you just want to plug in to keep your batteries charged, you can go with an adapter to plug into a 15a or 20a circuit in the garage for instance. If you're installing a new service, you want to go with 30a.

You may plug into any size circuit with the correct adapters but with smaller amp circuits you will be limited as to what you can run in the RV. Maximum on MOST travel trailers is 30 amps total

I thought I was thinking correct. I had an electrician install a 30amp box and a separate breaker. I plugged in my tt and it trip and noticed a burning smell. Knocked out all my power. Fix: new power converter install.
I plugged in my dads tt and heard a pop. Little bit of smell and again no power. 3 breakers tripped in tt. Plugged into 110v with adapter and everything works. Called my electrician and tried to explain the problem and he said he had no idea what caused the problem but he would come check it out.

Are you installing a new outlet or plan to plug into an existing one? The breaker is there to protect the wires so if you are using an existing outlet DO NOT install a bigger breaker.
Either way, all the helpful people need more information to give a helpful answer.
