after flushing the ball will not close all the way and the water leaks out. If we push the foot pedal and let it snap back it will hold water. Quick fix for this or do I have to pull it to fix it... thanks

Had the same problem with our Cougar TT. Under warranty they just replaced the seal. Parts changing. When it happened again, I cleaned the blade and the seal and bought some plumbers grease at the big Orange (or Blue) home store and applied it to the seal and blade in a thin coat. Worked. Your results may vary.

I guess it depends on what toilet you have. On the dometic in mine you can change the seal by holding the ball open with your foot and reaching in there and R&R the seal.

We've always used the "let it snap back" method....seals everytime, and hasn't hurt anything in decades of RVing....

I've also used the snap back method, but I prefer to clean and add vaseline. That usually takes care of the problem. If this does not solve problem, then it need to be resealed.

We have a Thetford. Snap back (or lift the valve handle with your toe) has been working for years. Changed the rubber seal after about 4 years --- may be due again during my spring maintenance cycle.

Might also try put some vegetable oil in the standing water when it is closed properly. A few applications should soften up the rubber gasket and help it seal and close better. This is a band-aid fix however. Eventually you may have to replace the rubber gasket. Caution: Do not use a petroleum based lubricant.
