Day 2: a little cooler and cloudier, but still kick azz for spring! I went out this morning and was seeing how fast I could go through the whoops (pretending to be a racer - I wanted to go before anyone would see me and laugh!) Coming back, my quad sounded really rattle-y. Hmmm. Checked and I lost a bunch of the fasteners. What to do? Duct tape of course!
Then, not thinking, I made a stupid rookie mistake. I went to check the oil on the honda before shutting off the engine. I had a nice synthetic oil facial. Thank goodness I was wearing my shades (still sunny then) so only my pride was hurt. Quick - look around - did anyone see? Oh, just the guys laughing their butts off.
We decided to go to Spinreel for the traditional ice cream (it was still pretty nice then.) Hmmm. 430 is flooded out. Go over to Bull Run and head north. Lots of water! By the time we picked our way through many flooded dead ends it took us 2.5 hours. Ricky asked "are we lost?" I said, "hell no, I'm just showing you around. I know exactly where we are." He bought it, I think. By the time we get there its not so sunny.
I decided to take the beach on the way back in the interest of time and fuel. 10 mile road was just fine and we got to the beach. It was a little chilly considering we just had sweatshirts.
Down the beach to Hauser Beach road. We are headed down it and it was pretty flooded out. By this time Ricky is tired so we just go for it. I told him keep on the throttle and do not let up! It was kinda bad in three spots but we made it with only one real "pucker" moment.
3.5 hours later, we are chilling and debating whether to go out again in a little while.
