Our used-new-to-us 2006 Keystone Hornet 27' camper has no keys. Its $40 for a new lock at Camping World. I was really hoping to buy just the key for the door lock. We did find the universal key for the compartments for $4. I contacted Keystone about the key and they just suggested I buy a whole new lock. Surely there is a way to purchase another key to that existing lock...........any suggestions?

I would get the new lock. If you have a locksmith come out and then make you a new key, it will cost you more. Just my opinion.

Take the lock out and to a locksmith he will redo for you.

I would THINK that Keystone would have a record (from the VIN) of the key and be able to replace it but it may cost you as much as that new lock would. They don't work cheaply

I don't think the $40.00 fee is too much to get a new lock and keys. I once lost my keys and it cost me $120.00 for a locksmith to come to our house and make new keys.

If you don't need to use that lock, you could just add a house-style dead bolt to the trailer and use that as the primary way to lock it. Probably less than the new lock/key, and added security.

Look for some numbers etched on the cylinder next to the slot where the key goes in.
Usually a letter and three numbers eg. H421, etc. if you take that code to a locksmith they can cut a key. Usually for about $20 or less.
