We're in the same boat only we're just waiting to sell our property and then order a new 2013 the way we want it. After looking for over 18 months we finally settled on the Diplomat 43DFT. This has to be thee best floorplan by far for our needs.
We looked hard at the Winnebago Tours, Newmar DutchStars and the Amercian Coach Revelution, they all had some pros and cons to them, but the floorplans while good we're not quite what we wanted.
I have searched the net for problems with the Maxxforce 10 engine and have not been able to find any serious issuse with the motor. While it;s an unknown, those that I've been in contact with that have one are extremely happy with the Maxxforce 10 so far.
Wish I could help more, but other than test driving a 2012 twice, and finding that IMHO the Maxxforce 10 holds it's own compared to the Cummins ISL performance wise.
We have a 2011 HR Endeavor 43DFT - sister ship to the Diplomat - has a Cummins 425 but other than that I second Trap's comments about the floorplan - DW fell in love with it and had to "really twist my arm" :-) to make me trade up last year. With one year under our belt I can tell you that Navistar is certainly making a difference in the as-built quality. This is our 3rd HR and this coach is the best of the three from an overall quality standpoint.
Have heard no significant issues with the MaxxForce engine and in a coach application it ought to work as least as well as it does in the OTR market.
Find a good dealer that will work with you on price (we went through Veurink's in Gd Rapids MI - highly recommend) and will give you good after sales service.

I can't help you with the Diplomat, but we have on order a 2013 Holiday Rambler Ambassador. Lead time is about 8-11 weeks.
Power seems OK, but we haven't driven many Class A's. We're coming from a 31' travel trailer.
The woodwork is outstanding, as well as the overall coach as well. We love the new exterior look of the 2012s and 2013s, really separates us from the past Monaco products and other Class A's
The 2012/2013 improvements are the following
Much quieter air conditioners
New dashboard
Larger exterior door
Interior LED lighting optional
LED exterior brake lights
Larger tires
Bay door have better hinges
Air leveling standard
Exterior seams are more streamlined
There might be more, but I don't recall it at this time
Ours is loaded with 3 air conditioners and almost every option.
Hyline not sure where your looking to buy, but I would check around for pricing. We're looking to buy south of the border, cause of better pricing. Also may want to check with Westgate RV in Kelowna.
