just had 6 new hankooks ah11-225/70r/19.5 put on my 97 georgeboy today. whent to take it home and when i hit the freeway and was able to get it up to 60 the whole coach shook so bad i could barely keep it on the road. spent the rest of the day at shop.i had michelins on it before. but i read so much good about the hankooks i thought i would try them. well they tried everything with no results.so now i have two choices, they said they would replace the hankooks with new ones or i could pay the diff and get the mich. i think ill go with the mich. has anyone else had problems with there hankooks. it must be a bad tire but how to find the bad one.and they said i should only inflate to 65 that sounds kind of low to me. i allways had 85 on the mich.

This happened to me once and it wasnt the tires........it was that they didnt tighten the lugs to torque spec and it about beat me to death. Once they were right it ran really good.
Good Luck.

I do agree with Dennis that the FMCA Mich discount program is a good way to go. I am thinking about replacing my steer tires this year and that is going to by my choice. However, I think that there are a number of good tire makers and Hankook is one of them. Lincoln for example charges a premium for Hankook tires.
Six months ago I bought a new set of Mich tires for my car to replace the original Mich that had worn out. Guess what. The first set of Michelins had two bad tires in the four. I tried to get them to balance correctly and after four tires demanded new ones. The next set has worked perfectly. My point. Michelin makes great tires but also goofs up.
If you do go the Michelin way I recommend ones made in the USA. My experience is that the USA Michelins have more resistance to sun cracking than European ones.

I know that you are thinking mainly about the tires but based on your post you should also have your front and rear suspension checked out.

I had my 6 Michelin 245/70-19.5 tires replaced yesterday with Hankook AH11's yesterday. Although they are riding a little stiffer they seem to ride as well. I have a very slight shimmy at 60 mph but as soon as I get to 63 mph it is undetectable. If the shimmy does not go away, I will go back for rebalancing the fronts. I certainly do not feel the $1000 difference between these and the original tires. I had them set the air pressure at 95 but I may back off of that slightly.
Did your tire installer have a spin balancer? I had to go to a true truck tire shop to find a place that could do that.

I had the same thing happen as the OP with new Goodyear G670s on the front; they were 22.5 tires. It turned out they weren't round. Went with Hankook; no problem.

If it is a Ford chassis there were some issues with the hub to rim interface. The early Ford's used the lugs to center the wheel on the hub and they did not always center correctly. The cure was a centering ring that slipped over the hub nose and centered the rim to the hub.

You got some good advice, just because it has the words Michelin on the side does NOT automatically make them a better tire. I would go with another set of Hankooks 1st and make darn sure the tire is properly installed on the RV. I'm willing to bet you will have a good tire when done right. That tire is pressure limited by the rim, not the tire and 65# is total BS. Sounds like you are dealing with a automobile tire store, not a truck tire store.
