In what I hope is the coldest night of the spring here in Utah....at least the coldest since we arrived back from the winter stay in Arizona..........I have an un-winterized trailer outside and don't want to winterize it because I am going camping again in 2 weeks......
I have the all-weather cover below the frame, and the ability to send some funace heat down to the "basement", so I just finished hooking up to shore power, and setting the furnace thermostat at 55 for tonight................maybe none of the plumbing would freeze if I didn't, but I don't want to take the chance..20 degrees might crack the drain fittings, although I think the PEX would be OK....

Might be a good idea to remove the "dog shower" hose unless you have a shut off valve for that branch. Turning on the water heater would also be a good idea. 20 is pretty cold and LOCALLY they could easily be 5 degrees off from the forecast (either way).
Good luck / Skip

So long as your daytime high is 50f or higher 20f is no problem at all...the mass of the trailer will radiate enough heat all night that the lines will not freeze.
I live in a cold climate and have plenty of experience with cold weather...
If you have highs of 50f a night of 5f you may get some slush in the lines, I hang a 50 watt trouble lite by the pump and behind the toilet..leave the taps open and your safe..

Thanks for a word from Canada.....that makes me feel better.........it got down to 29 here last night, and I took no precautions, thinking along the lines you mentioned...........but, the new forecast for a low of 20 tonight made me a bit nervous.
Anyway, it is nearing midnight here, and I have some heat in there now, so, from what you say, I will sleep soundly...thanks for responding.

I wouldn't be overly concerned. I've been dealing with cold weather for YEARS, and have had the temps drop into the teens many times with no problem. Yes, the water in the lines might freeze, but unless exposed to prolonged freezing temps, with no above-freezing weather for 24 or more hours, the ice that is formed will not expand. THAT is what causes the damage, not the freezing. I always err on the side of caution, but I wouldn't worry about this temperature dip at all.

As I stand down here in the valley (it's gonna hit 81 today), I gaze up to the campground on the mountain next to us and wonder will all that snow be gone and the temps hit 70 in 3 weeks?

yep.......it's cold in Powell.....Sheridan too.....my son is the Postmaster in Sheridan, and he has had enough of the cold winters, but hasn't been able to work a transfer.....funny, when he was younger he didn't complain about the cold..now that he is in middle age, he doesn't like it so well........I told him that is why old duffers like me go to Arizona or the equivalent in the winter.
