I've been shopping around for pop-ups, and would like to have a unit with an indoor bathroom and shower. However, the size of the showers seems quite small. Can any of you comment on the usefullness of these pop-up indoor showers?

Thanks!

Good morning, Matt.

We've had both, with and without. we sold the without, to get one with. Even though it's small, it served its purpose. Much better than being dirty the entire camping trip. We boondock mostly, btw. But even when not, I'd rather use our facilities than carry things to the park's bathrooms.

So for us, useful? You bet.

Our popup had the toilet/shower combo and it worked just fine. We camp almost solely in forest service campgrounds or in clearings and it was nice to take a shower every few days, although it was a quick one. I was not a big fan of the cassette toilet though, and just used the campground toilet if it had one, or else shared with the bears.

I have a Coleman Niagara with the walled shower toilet combo. The Niagara has holding tanks just like any travel trailer. The tanks hold you back though at 20 gal for grey water and 9 gal for black. Toilet will last you all weekend but 20 gal grey means very very short showers if no sewer hook ups. Now if you have full hookups no worries at all take a shower worth 20 gal then dump when finished. I stay at the beach for 2 weeks every summer and use our toilet and shower everyday all day. Just dump when they are full. Yea its smaller but it beats dragging all your things to a hot humid most likely dirty bath house I wouldnt have a trailer without it!

Depends on how large your holding tanks are. Any water than goes down the shower drain needs to find a home in a waste water holding tank unless you're boondocking somewhere that allows dumping waste water. If you ARE in that type of place then the size of your FW tank comes into play also. If you're on a sewer hookup RV park or campground site then that issue goes away.

Ours in the OFF-ROAD POPUP is pretty small and not good at all standing up. I think the intent was for you to sit on the POT and hose yourselve down with the hand sprayer.

I could never get used to the idea of sitting on the pot taking a sit-down shower.

I'm guessing having the toliet lid up is operational...

Having seen the POPUPs more recently just having the toliet seat appeals to me more now..

My OFF-ROAD POPUP does not have a holding tank except for fresh water. I have to capture the shower water with my reliance 7-gal water totes.

My wife insisted on the toilet when we got a popup. We didn't consider the shower, it was just there. If there's decent shower in the campground, we use that one if not, the shower in the camper is very handy to have. It's also great for cleaning up small children. We have three kids who can get pretty dirty around camp. It's nice to stand them in the shower and hose them down before bed. We're careful enough that we don't even have to set up the shower curtain for kids' showers. I'd get the shower again in a heartbeat.

We also have a Niagara that has the hard sided bathroom / shower. For a pop up it has some decent space for standing in to take a shower:

(not from my actual pop up)

We also have a 18 Gal Thetford Smart-Tote that we bring along if we are not staying at a full hook up site, this allows us to dump almost all of the 20 gal gray water holding tank that is on the Niagara if it gets full:

Our 2008 Niagara is our 3rd pop up and the first with a toilet and shower built in. For us, the convenience is great enough that we wouldn't get another RV without a toilet and shower.

We use our shower/cassette potty in our Aliner every trip. We don't often stay at CG's with showers. As we get a little longer in the tooth, it's much more convenient for us to use our very own inside potty during the night than getting dressed to go the bath house a couple times a night - especially if it is cold and rainy out. Plus one never knows how dirty or buggy the bath house is going to be, how far away it will be, or if one will even be available.

Here's the unit in our Aliner:

I like my shower and use it. Great for a quick clean up - wet down, lather up and rinse off. I also use it to clean pots/pans too awkward for the kitchen sink!

I too agree, the bathroom is well worth the investment...much nicer to have the facilities right there than to have to walk to a buggy bathhouse in the middle of the night.
