2hams, God luv ya, you are my kinda dog person. Although Sadie does spend a little time in the trailer we don't like it. If we happen to be doing on a hike without her I sneak the hiking shoes, packs, etc into the tow vehicle the night before so she does not see us leaving with them! Honest.

If you get anywhere near Kanab, UT you should go 4 miles north to Best Friends - think it is the largest animal sanctuary - 99% I would guess dogs and cats. No kill of course. Very famous. Worth the tour - have been there twice.

I agree, you cannot skip Mesa Verde or the North Rim of the Grand Canyon! Also, if you can stop in Goblin Valley for the night, the formations are unique and beautiful. Here are some pix of it: Goblin Valley

If you want to SEE the Grand Canyon you go to the South Rim; if you want to say you have BEEN to the Grand Canyon, the North Rim will do. It is nice at the NR but you see only a small portion and you are shooting photos into the sun.

I'm going to retract my statement that 7 days in MOAB is too much. You could take 2 days for a 4WD trip on the Shafer Trail (aka White Rim trail, I think) in the Islands in the Sky section of Canyonlands NP. Add Arches, Dead Horse Point and the Islands in the Sky scenic drive, a few other scenic drives and there is 7 days. If you want to do the Needles or Mesa section of Canyonland, there are more than 7 days worth of stuff to do around Moab.
