What kind of set ups do you use?

Looking for ideas on how to carry two bikes, receiver mount, ladder, something else?

Pictures?

Depends on how much you like or have invested in your bikes.

Normally with the TC on, I use this: MWE Racks.

My main trail bike has a 20MM thru axle. Yes, there are adapters, but I also don't like having to take the wheel off. I've tried a similar solution to what is posted using a fork mount and a rear wheel strap. Didn't like it much. Though, it is considerably cheaper than the setup I'm using...and as long as your handlebars will clear the door...easier to get in and out of the TC.

I put in a front curt reciever and a Bauer rack that securely locks the bikes without needing to remove the front wheels

I use a receiver mount at the rear of the truck. Holds two bikes away from the camper body. Just have to pull a pin to remove the tube holding the rack and I have access to the camper.
I've seen a few bikes drop off vehicles that used straps, good way to lose the bike and gain a few "friends" when they run over the bike.

I have thought about fabricating a swing out rack for the back of the camper. With 5 bikes to carry, the ladder setup wouldn't work.

The idea would be to attach it to the right jack of the camper with a pivot. It would secure to the ladder (on the left on my camper) when traveling. It could be swung out when I needed to get into the camper. Once in camp it could be removed so it would be out of the way.

I like the swing-out idea. I would take that idea and attach it to a t-shaped mount consisting of one 2x2 tube that goes into the truck's receiver hitch and another tube welded to the end of the hitch tube at 90* angle that crosses under the back of the camper, instead of using the jack mount on the camper to support the rack. Kind of like some of those fancy rear bumpers for Jeeps that have a built in swinging tire, gas can, cargo rack that pivots from a spindle on one end of the bumper. They're usually pretty beefy.

Using the truck's receiver hitch to mount the rack would make a sturdy mount for the swing out carrier that doesn't stress the camper's wood structure where the lower jack leg is mounted. Another benefit is it could be used on the truck with the camper off the truck, or used in the front hitch too.

Mounting to the camper, it could be a lot of torque on that area of the camper with 5 bikes loaded and the rack swung out. More so also, if a kid decided to step up onto the rack with it swung out, for whatever reason, maybe to take a ride on the swinging rack? You know how kids are!

With the rack swung in and the other side supported by the other jack mount, shouldn't be a problem while traveling. Just the idea of supporting everything on that one area of the camper when it's swung out that doesn't thrill me.
