Hi everyone, looking for a campground for a AUG trip. Have two older boys who want to come and are planning to take VAC time off from their jobs. Just looking for a place by a beach or a destination type area.
Probably be a five day trip.

Thanks Mike

I was also going to suggest Acadia National Park. There is plenty to do in the park.

43 miles of carriage roads that are used for walking and possibly bicycling. You will need to call about bicycling as they are currently closed to bicycling due to soft conditions.

Many hiking trails of all abilities IE; Bubble Rock is a very easy hike. You can drive, bicycle or hike to the top of Cadillac Mountain. Plenty of beaches. Kayaking tours are plentiful. Thunder rock is great. I highly recommend the horse and buggy bridge tour.

My problem with recommending Acadia is the 5 days, if it includes two travel days, it is not enough time. I would look closer to home, IE; Cape Cod or Boston.

Assateague (State or National Park) is on the beach and within 15 miles of Ocean city, MD.

Delaware Seashore State Park is next to the beach and 8 miles from Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Both are within 8 hours of Ct. RB is a little more family friendly whereas OC is a little more party atmosphere. Assateague is more rustic and natural whereas Delaware Seashore has FHU and is more like a private campground.

Acadia Nat park would be one opportunity and there are several campground inside the park. Lots of interesting things to do in the area.

I'd suggest checking RVParkReviews.com and see what there is along the NJ coast, if you want the beaches. You'll be within that 8 hours Chinchoteague, VA too!

Can't recommend anything personally, so suggest looking at the sites to see what others think of the various CGs.

Lake George is a good choice. Lots of campgrounds. Lake George RV park is great - a little pricey. http://www.lakegeorge.com/guide/lg_campingrvs.cfm

Thanks everyone for your replies, we did Old Orchard Beach ME last year, turned out to be a great trip, was thinking of going back or Lake George area or exploring other ideas. For the most part kids do their own thing when they come on our trips.

You've got to check out Hermit Island CG in Phippsburg Maine. On the beach. Spectacular!
