Just looking for some tips on changing out the bathroom roof fan.
The original blades (1989), are kaput. I checked locally and we have a few options.
Just replace the fan portion, The motor works, but is noisy and probably will not last more than a couple seasons.
Replace both motor and fan blade. Problem the motor is welded in place and at that point we are looking at $40.00 in parts locally.
Figure out how to ripe out the motor and replace with a 12V computer fan. It would be quieter.
Bite the bullet and buy a Fantastic Fan or other such fan. We already have a Maxx Air cover on the vent. I am not sure of the local cost to buy.
I have limited skills (have replaced household electrical fixtures, but really do not want to pay to have the work done. I know I can easily just replace the fan blades.
Any ideas on how to easily break the weld on the original fan motor?
I will be looking at the stove vent fan too. I am sure it is wearing out as well.
I would just replace the fan blades. Wait for the Fantastic Fans to go on sale at PPL or Camping World. You can get them 30 - 50% off if you are patient.
X 4 for the Vortex. Quieter, moves more air, worth the cost, problem solved. You won't regret it at all. Put a smile on my face the first time I turned mine on. Not as quiet as a Fantastic on low but waaaaaaay quieter than the stock howler fan.
Install a Fanastic fan. If the motor ever gives you trouble, call the company, they will arrange to send you it's replacement, even if the unit is over 10 years old. Great airflow, fairly quiet on low fan speed, and much more air flow on slow fan speed than the other fan did!

ditto. I'd find myself sitting on the toilet and realizing that I should have opened the vent and pressed the plunger-switch to turn the P.O.S. bathroom fan on - by that time it is too late. After about a year of doing that I decided to get this FanTastic Fan with the remote. Now when I forget to open the vent - I grab the remote, press a button - done. Quite possibly the best investment in the MH, yet.

Tothill, replacement blade for an ordinary bathroom vent fan is about $5.00. Easy to replace. There are generally 2 types of splined shaft that they fit. One is round and one is "D" shape. It is important to get the correct one. You just need to remove the old blade by gently prying it off the splined shaft. Once off, check to see if it is round, or IF the hub is intact, check the shape. Most RV parts stores stock the blades. If it is an ordinary vent fan, it is likely a "Ventline" so you can also search the internet for parts.
