Um Im gathering as some folks are alluding to The Vortex fan doesnt have or isnt warranted by the manufacture? Only warranted if you purchase from a large RV store front (and pay for it +$50.00?). Hey they sell an extended warranty for another 12...

Not sure on the new reversible 5 speed for use in the bath. Nice to lowere power consumption but at loss of air flow. Unlike living area fans bath sees limited use. Pretty sure Id go single speed for the bath just because of cost differance and probley non use of the feature.
Cost to convert to vortex or simular close to replacing stock fan blade & motor-which was what op was inquiring about. Always room for upgrades but... 130 for a bathroom vent.

I like the idea of the Vorterx Retrofit fan. Seems pretty easy to replace the old one. Also nice to havve pictures of someone else replacing it. My bathroom fan, like others have written, is very noisy. I do have one question though. Do you need to take out the old fan bracket? The one the old fan is mounted to? I also like it idea of putting on a switch to make the new fan have varriable speed. What would I look for to do that?

check out the maxxaire one that just goes over the old lid/framework after removing the old fan blade. variable speed control mounts on corner of framework.

Bumpy, do you have a link to the Maxxair retrofit fan? I don't see anything like it on their web site. It looks like they all require complete removal of the existing vent.

I think he is talking about the Turbo Maxx fan. I have had one of those and it is, in my opinion, better than the Fantastic Fan that I have now.

Another vote for the Vortex. Installed one this week in a vent that did not have a fan previously by tapping into a light that was close. Very straight forward install with their directions and had it done in less than 45 minutes.
I bought the single speed and am thrilled with the amount of air it moves. Should cool the camper very quickly when we are camping without electric and can't run the air. Is quieter than the bath fan slightly but moves about 4-5 times the air so a good trade off.

For the price vs some of the more expensive fan options plus the fact I did not have to disturb my roof vent and it's seal, I've very happy with it.

You are correct Barney, the TurboMaxx is what I am talking about and yes it is better than a fantastic fan. the noise moves out away from the vent and it can be operated in the rain. some folks put this type of cover over their fantastic fans instead of just doing it right in the first place.

I had the Turbo Maxx in my previous trailer and loved it. My present trailer came with two Fantastic Fans and I have put the Fan Mate 800 covers over them. This has worked out well. Allows me to leave the vent covers open 24/7 and run the fans regardless of the weather.

X 4 for the Vortex. Quieter, moves more air, worth the cost, problem solved. You won't regret it at all. Put a smile on my face the first time I turned mine on. Not as quiet as a Fantastic on low but waaaaaaay quieter than the stock howler fan.

I bought one just last week to put in, have the first version too, but never installed it, but now I will put this new one in bathroom and maybe the other in the kitchen.

I would put the one in the bathroom first and listen too it. The Vortex is too noisy for the living room/kitchen area, for me.

I just installed it in the main area and hooked it up to a solar panel so it can vent out some of the heat when its in the storage lot. It was an easy install for the fan

+100 on the Vortex Retrofit kit. Took me 10 minutes, they engineered this to fit many makes and models of OEM fans.
