Looks like the 8.1L snatched the jaws right out of that hitch! Training wheels gave him too much traction!

Now maybe had he been towing with a 3/4 ton that wouldn't have happened.
Serious question:
Would this have been possible with a ball mount vs a king pin. Specifically, I am talking about a gooseneck or Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel connection.
Thanks!

I haven't seen a trailer doing 55mph in a long time, unless the truck just simply couldn't climb the hill any faster. Most are doing 65-75 like everybody else, including the 'professional' semi truck drivers.
Roughly 60mph , but others stick it on the 70mph(110kph) speed limit here

He has pictures of his project partly completed.

Whoa, there 250/2500 owners, joebedford was just making his observations on these trucks/trailer combos. He never mentioned his was better/stronger/faster/bigger etc. Just his daily observations of a roadtrip. That,s all. This forum seems to be taken over by 250\2500 owners who seem to have the need to justify their purchase of their trucks of choice. Can't we just all get along? Let,s just be safe out there.

From my observations, I see plenty of Toyotas and Rangers loaded down with loads that should have been in an F150/1500. I see plenty of F150/1500's loaded down with loads that should have been in an F250/2500. I see plenty of F250/2500's loaded down with loads that should have been in an F350/3500. I see plenty of single rear wheel one-tons loaded with loads that should have been in a dually. And I see 1-ton duallys with loads that should have been in a class 4 commercial truck.
So it's not just F250/2500 guys that are guilty of trying to do more with the truck than it was made to do. Just about anyone who has owned trucks has been guilty of it at one time and another.

My F250 with the 40 footer. I Never drive over 60, as soon as I see it over I slow down, even with a bigger truck I would be the same way!

With all said and done, remember the "long long trailer. What was that, a "53" Merc. convertable? Actually they really did pull some mighty big trailers on the bumper of those old tanks !

solman wrote: Do the 350's and the 250's get the same tires as far as weight carrying go? I know the size is different.
If so it seems that air bags could make a 250 into a 350.
The F350 comes with 18" wheels with a tire that is rated at 3640 lbs and a 20" wheel but I don't know the weight rating of the 20" tires. My 2007 F250 had a 17" wheel that had a tire wt rating of 3195 lbs, so yes, the F350 has tires that will bear more weight. This is on a SRW truck of course.
I just put a set of F350 alloy wheels with brand new 275X70R 18 which in combination with the air bags give me the same weight capability as the F350. WEIGHT POLICE BUTT OUT!!!!
