We have looked online at all the campgrounds near Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. They all appear to be parking lots or have no hook-ups. We just want some grass and a picnic table. Is that too much to ask? Anyone have a suggestion of a place to camp? We are about to give up and just go to Fishing Bridge. We figure if we have to stay in a parking lot we might as well be close to the park.
Norris campground in the park is a nice litle campground, trees, grass, views, central to the park. but there aren't many sites for big rigs.
we like staying at gros ventre campground on the southern end of Grand Teton Park for seeing that park.
for seeing Yellowstone, we like staying down at Henry's Lake State Park in ID, just 15 miles south of the west gate to Yellowstone.
But Yellowstone is so big, it helps to move inside the park for a few days to tour the north and northeast section.
So then we stay at Bridge Bay campground, which isn't the prettiest, but is central and has water and a dump station. the sites are large, but it tends to be windy there.

Actually, Fishing Bridge is in the park. And its very tight. And its the only park inside with hook ups. Yellowstone's campgrounds were built a long time ago, before RVs got so big. If you want hook ups, Grizzly is two blocks from the West entrance in West Yellowstone.
For FHUs for the Tetons, there's the Virginian in town or Coulter Bay RV park inside the park. Coulter Bay has both a dry camping and and a FHU campground next to each other.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.
Not many folks to go Yellowstone for the camping. Just a place to stay while touring the park and all of it's attractions.
Grass is not a plant that is native to the mountains but Grizzly is very much like a city park with lots of the same features and they are very nice folks. Part of the PRICE for staying in West Yellowstone is the nearly hour long 15 mile drive from the West entrance to Madison Junction twice a day
