Can I see pictures of anyones mag lite mounts? I'd like to mount mine close to the door, but I am not sure where the best place is... (stud finder does not seem to find anything).
I'd like to make sure it is mounted firmly so those bumps dont wiggle is loose.
We have a cabinet next to the door, and even though it's pressboard, it is solid enough to screw a bracket in to.
If you are unsure, you can drill a small pilot hole, and if nothing solid, you can use an anchor to fasten it. A maglite may have some heft to it, but a couple of good quality anchors should hold it.
Another option may be to get the smaller light......for by the door, and store the large light somewhere nearby, that has a better surface for attachment.

Somewhere on the forum, under mods someone used an Atwood fishing rod holder to holder their mag light next to the door. It was very nice, but it depends on the size of your light. DH just got a piece of pvc and mounted it and it holds the light perfectly.

Here is one I made out of some leftover vinyl board that I had when I replaced the wood trim around my new garage doors.
I have the exact same mount inside the door going from out kitchen to the basement in our S&B.
For the trailer I drilled pilot holes the size of the screw for the moly bolt anchor and install the anchors in the wall. When I sell the trailer I will just leave it there.

Don't have pictures of the install but they were easy.I mounted one in our garage right by the door as you go out and one in the camper on the side of the kitchen counter that faces my side of our queen bed. Since I'm the one that gets nudged to check out the creaks and things that go bump in the night, figured I best put it somewhere on my way to the door. Also was a non-outside wall. I just opened the kitchen cabinet and identified where the studs were inside the cabinet and placed the mount to match up and screwed it in. Nice and firm and they need to be because the mount is very secure. Once the flashlight is hooked in, it's not coming out accidently.

Hope your travels are safe and the friendships made camping are lasting.
I've been using those things for the entire 20 years I've been driving. They work well while they work, but do tend to fatigue with time and use, and eventually they break.
For attaching them to a hollow wall, if you can't find a stud, use some good pop rivits that do the large triple-flute flare on the back-side, or use some Toggler SnapToggles (available at any Home Depot) in the wall where they are to be mounted.
I have my UDAP BEAR SPRAY Canister right next to my MAGLITE flashlight...
