Hey all! I'm about to pick up a 2011 Fun Finder xtra 275. Got it new from the dealer for 21K. Question. They're offering me financing at 10% for 12 years with 3,300 down. What do you think of that? I thought the rate is really high but after looking into it, that seems to be about the going rate for an RV or trailer.

Also, what kind of insurance do I need for something like this?

I plan to tow it with a 2012 Silverado (max towing is 9600), and travel with up to 2 big block Harley's.

Thanks!

10% interest rate on a RV loan seems really high to me. You need to check around with local banks and credit unions to see what else is available.

For insurance, start with the company you have your auto insurance with. You can then compare pricing on-line to see if it is reasonable. There is some advantage to having your RV and trailer insurance with the same company.

Good luck and happy camping!

Really high interest. I am paying 5.25% on my trailer through my credit union.

My Credit Union show current rates at 5.74% for towables. You should check around.

10% seems really high but it might depend on your credit score. I was quoted 5.59% at one place and 5% at another.

I found that penfed home equity loan is 1.99% for 5 years. If you can float the monthly payment that's not bad. You have to be a member of some things, like military, but it's not limited to that. There is a list of places you can be a member of to quality. The rates there seems pretty good. You can go online and see what rates they have. Their car loan was also 1.99% for 5 years.

Good luck and congrats!

I forgot to mention but good sam also have rv loans. I forgot the rate but I don't think it's that much more than 5.49% again, it all depends on your credit score I think.

Try a local credit union.

Depends on your insurance carrier. Some add the trailer to the towing vehicle and some write a separate policy for it. When I had Allstate, it was a separate policy as is Progressive. I now have Farmers and is insured on the truck policy for about $190yr.

10% is a bit high if you have good credit. Anything 5-7% I feel is fair and less that 5% is outstanding!

10%? Did they ask you to bend over and smile? These are clearly not your friends. I looked at banks and finally settled with State Farm, my insurance carrier. They gave me far better rates, plus when they write the coverage for it they provide, at no cost, the coverage for the difference in what your rig is worth and the loan balance (cause you know it's value drops 33% when you pull it off the lot). I think I'm paying 4.75% interest on mine.
