Like possibly the wolf creek is a training grounds for the AF builders. I'll be interested to see how the above set-up works on say the way to valdez, or down through Turnagain Pass. I've driven to Haul Rd 9 times with a TC, and wouldn't want anything heavier than my 2500HD Duramax, and Lance 825(no ac/tv/or any additional BS). If your just putting from campground-campground and not using it in 4ft of snow,or going to Deadhorse- you probably will be OK, but by the numbers your over, just like everyone else. I wanted to make a 811 work with my truck after the math it just didn't sit well.
Actually, the Wolf Creeks are made on the same assembly line and have the same quality control standards as Arctic Fox campers. I've spoken to a few folks as Northwood to confirm this. Yes, the Wolf Creeks only have one inch aluminum frames vice two inch frames, but they are made with the same appliances and equipment as you find on the Arctic Foxes. I have been impressed with the quality and workmanship for a camper that weighs considerably less than the Arctic Foxes.

Honestly, I don't give half a******about the few pounds of weight, under or over. I see a-holes roaming all over the hyways and byways of American, dragging their asses all over the tar mat like they're about to bust an axle, throw a rod and sling metal scrap across every corner they turn, and I see a whole******load of that behavior from professional drivers/truckers, mostly. I know I'm within my limits, my ass isn't anywhere close to the ground, and I'm careful and cautious about how I conduct myself on the roads. It's all good. Tomorrows another day and the suns coming out more and more!
Camping time!
Aw, come on, is Turnagain Pass and heading to Valdez that bad? In the summer?
Yeah, camp ground to camp ground, boonedocking, site seeing, yes. I'm not going to go 4x4ing in this rig, but gravel, dirt, etc... why not? Have you seen some of the rigs out there on our local roads?
I saw a guy yesterday heading to Artic Man driving a 1500 Chevy long bed with may-pop tires with a lance TC that looked like it belonged on a F450; ass end hanging out pass the tail gate, yes tail gate was down and the ass end was hanging out buy about 6". He had 3 people and a dog in the cab, and what appeared to be a back deck made out of pressure treated timber. And he's heading out to the Arctic Man...had a sign that said "Artic Man or bust", hope he doesn't bust near the narrows heading toward Glen Allen; we may hear it all the way back to Anchorage!
I wouldn't exactly base my thinking on what you see going to arctic man, I just got back and yes the Matsu hillbillys are alive and well. In over 30 years of driving these roads the last 20 with class c's or towing 20 plus enclosed race trailers. I've always found that a trip to Eureka lodge or one of the pullouts early season is a very accurate indicator of how your set up will handle. I found on this trip (A-Man 2012) that the Lance 825 that is advertised for half tons, wouldn't survive climbing into Paxson loaded-I did it with a 22ft Vnose enclosed with a DMAX-and it was working fine. For instance on the Richardson Highway the frost heaves got the best of a 2500/northen lite-blew out the rear tire(dude didn't even have a bottle jack)-Have you changed a rear tire on a truck with a camper? . Especially in the middle of the Richardson HWY. Have a Great Summer catch some fish- I'm liking the truck campers alot, and it's a great combo for AK.
