What year is your Edge? We have a 2008 Edge and have never experienced a problem with a dead battery. If you have a newer model year with the keyless ignition I have heard of dead battery issues.

Don't have a edge, but have a 2011 Buick regal and it went dead, I fixed the problem, I just take neg battery terminal off, put it back on when I get there.

the only way the BB will kill the battery is if the Brake lites stick on for a hours on end
Unless the battery is recharged Properly it will go dead twice as easy the next time

Toad Charge
We installed this and haven't had any problems since. Makes for one less thing to remember to do. I'm sure there are other easier and cheaper ways but this came with everything that is needed and instructions.

Are you using toad power for braking or anything else. If not required, then get yourself a battery disconnect and install it on the the neg. battery terminal.
I plan on using a READY BRAKE that doesn't require any power and since I don't have a steering wheel lock on our Wrangler either, then I should be good to go.

I use a BB and do for multiple days in a row even. Never had a problem.
To the OP, maybe you have a simple answer like you have a dead cell in the battery and nothing to do with towing. Take it to someplace that will test the battery to make sure it's good and can hold a charge.
There are ton's of us out there that flat tow (with braking units) that never have problems.

we towed an Edge for 2 years without the problem. We installed a charging line from the MH and that seemed to work well.
