Have you looked at the Crusader by Prime Time? They are under the Forest River banner.

We have a 2011 Laredo 266RL. Two years with zero problems.

I am probably your parents' age and am also looking for a similar rv and considered the Jayco. I have been to several rv shows and have some observations. I want chairs in the rear also, BUT there must be windows on BOTH sides of the chairs. Jayco has a window on one side and it isn't on the door side, so you can't see out that side unless you are standing in the kitchen area. I also like the idea of a central "docking station". I am looking at these models--Crossroads CRUISER CF27RLX; K-Z Durango D275RL; both have 2 year warranties. Cost is about the same. I do like the idea of wardrobe slideout. I currently own a 2001 Jayco and have only had to make minor repairs, after the first time we took it out found out that one of the air conditioning ducts was blocked. Love it, but don't need bunks anymore, ready for chairs.

One other thing I forgot to mention about our 26.5 RLS is that it has two gray water tanks, 32.5 gallons each, one for the bathroom and one for the kitchen. Really gives a little more time for dry-camping, not a big difference when in full service.

A Lot has to do with personal preference but I have to tell you after spending months looking at different rigs and manufactures I found that for us Jayco was simply the best. A company who puts 2 years warranty on the product is awesome plus they guarantee to have the materials that make your camper for 5 years for repairs. We also really like the jayco dealers better yes I said dealers. we looked at 3 different dealers and they seemed to know and enjoy selling their products more then any other brand we looked at. WE also had a very hard time finsding used jaycos. maybe this is because people keep them instead of trading them in like other makes I dont know but we love ours. we ended up picking up a Jayco 30.5 BHLT. Its awesome and could not be happier. just our 2 cents worth. WE looked into the HT line that jayco offeres and we really loved it awesome colors layouts and light weight. only reason we didnt go with the HT is we have a full size F350 and dont need the light weight and would prefer the bunk house loft model we got. but the HTs are awesome looking rigs for sure.

We have been fortunate to not have any problems with our 2008 Laredo 265 RL. We did upgrade to 16" tires. Our swivel rockers are pretty uncomfortable. Our next unit will have a larger gray tank. Other than that, we really like it.

Crossroads Cruiser loads up even the smallest model with high content level and a 2+5 year warranty. Crossroads has a paint package, one piece rear cap, upgraded solid surface counters, leather coverings, and more!

You need to add a Heartland model to your list.

I realize we are talking about two different trucks, but when we put our 26.5 on our new Ram 2500, it really quiets the ride down a bunch. It might not do it as well with a dually, but you don't know until you try it. As far as quality, I would say the quality of our 26.5 is on par with our old Jayco Eagle 215 SD that we had for 18 years before selling to purchase another FW. I think the biggest difference might be in the frame, the 26.5 having a somewhat lighter frame, but if your folks are not pulling anything behind the FW, that shouldn't be a problem. Heartland products seem to be very nice as well, we looked at them, but didn't find anything in the length and weight that we thought was better than the Jayco we bought.

Dad stopped at the local Jayco dealer today, they are the dealer that they have bought all the previous 5ers from. They didn't have any HT's in stock but they priced out a 2013 for him, the final price with more upgrades and options than the 2012 that another dealer was $150 less.

One thing that the dealer and dad are both kinda worried about is that being that they HT has such a light pin weight that dads F350 4X4 dually may ride real rough and jerky with that little weight.

Also the dealer warned dad that the no matter what camper brand they choose, being the size of 5er they want to get into, the new camper would not have the build quality and also quality of materials that their current Jayco Designer Medallion has.

Now I think dad is almost more puzzled about which one to get, or just keep what they have.
