We have a 2010 25' Class C with a MB V-6 diesel engine. The tow bar is rated to tow up to 3,500 lbs. Has anyone towed a vehicle with this type of RV? Since it is a small diesel, I wonder if it could pull a dingy up some of the Colorado passes. If you have towed a dingy with this setup what type of tow issues have you had and what does it due to your diesel mileage? Thanks ahead of time for your responses.

Why tow a car with a Class C? Seems to me the connect/disconnect operation at a campground is simple enough to just use the C as the local vehicle. Of course, if it is 40 feet long....

We tow a Honda Fit, about 2600 lbs., with a Sprinter chassis motorhome. Have been over the rockies a few times with no problems at all. On the steep grades you have to go up and down in a lower gear and in the extreme cases be limited to about 40 mph in 3rd gear. That would be the case without the car attached, too. Mileage without the dinghy is about 16, and with it, about 15. 1st and 2nd gears in the Sprinter are so low that I don't think the dinghy noticeably affects low-speed acceleration. The worst climb I've done with the dinghy is going west over the Big Horns toward Yellowstone. The highest tranny temp I've seen is 210, but I've also never pulled a long steep grade with the outside temp above 70. I think keeping the speed down on the downhill side is the bigger problem with the Sprinter. You have to crawl down in a low gear, or use the brakes too much.

There are many places a C cannot go.

Lots of folks here tow, the biggest vehicle being a Jeep Rubicon. Check your Sprinter owners manual for what kind of braking system is recommended . I just bought a 2 door Tracker to pull behind mine. Need to set it up now. I will be getting a braking system as it is heavy enough that I should. If I was towing my (stripped) Samurai I wouldn't bother.

You should have no problems towing a small, light car behind you. Just remember to get an aux braking system for the car, too.
