Both of our daughters have the Iphone 4 and we were recently told that the Iphone4 comes with something called FACETIME which they described as a video calling feature...
QUESTION: We are looking to get a new Ipad2...does this come with Facetime and is there an app for it that we can download? Or am I stuck with getting an Iphone4 when I can purchase a new phone?
We need to see the grandchildren more often than we do so this will help until we can...
Thanks!

ipad 2 will do facetime.
There is a facetime app, and you can select facetime from the contacs menu as well.

What Bryan said. Actually, an iPad2 COMES with the Facetime app already installed, as does the iPod Touch, for that matter. It works even over wifi, although I have found a couple hot spots that block it. You are going to love that iPad.

Facetime on the iPad ONLY works on WiFi so you're not screwed.

Wonderful...I'm adding the mobile hotspot on my DroidX so that will solve that problem although I still have to watch it since the mobile hotspot is limited to 2gigs...until I get a new phone may have to use public Wifi to use Facetime so as not to count against my 2g limit

If you have a computer with a webcam, you can do video calls now. You can install the FREE Skype app and they can as well. Then you can play "show and tell" with the grandkids for FREE,anytime you have a wifi signal or are otherwise connected to the internet.
BTW, you can do this with anyone anywhere in the World who has a computer with a webcam that is on the internet.
Facetime is great, but NOT the only way.

You can also use Oovoo which is just like Skype. It allows for a six way conversation with video on all six at once. I think Skype allow three way video also. At present I don't believe Facetime allows for multi video conference type calls.
Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege.

I'm more concerned right now with bumping up against our 2g limit using Facetime for the mobile hotspot on my phone...but since I am grandfathered into Verizon with an unlimited data plan we will use piblic wifi with the Ipad2 until I get a new phone (with a front camera) to use Facetime or similar at home

You could look at Foxfi in the "play store". You can use your unlimited data plan for wi-fi instead of being limited to 2 GB and it's "free". I have used it a few times to see how well it works before we travel this summer and it works prefect.
