You are so correct when you mention the coastal area. I spend as much time as I can in the Rockport area. Why? It is laid back, no confetti, no gangs, none of the stuff you mention. Fishing? Look it up, it IS the premier fishing spot OF THE WORLD. Cheap? compared to most places, it is a giveaway. The only problem is there are no , what some would call 5 star resorts, aas Rockport area is an olllldddd area with sportfishing the main attraction for many many years.
There are so new parks being made, but they still are in the minority.
Depending on what one is looking for is what makes an area desireable or not.
I found what I was looking for, and I hope they do too.
We flew down to Texas, the 1st week in April and spent several days in the Rockport area. I think we found our "home away from home". What a nice community.....quiet, clean, well-kept and everyone was so friendly. Just loved the area!

Pawatt, I sold my big fiver last year when my wife passed in 09, kept the 30 fter and added another TC, so I just go in Texas now. Thats why I changed my name, bought a farm and spend most of my life now driving back and forth from NTEX to Rockport. I am actively looking for a small house in rockport or the surrounding area.
We fulltimed for 44 years, enjoyed the life and the life style, but without her, it just aint the same.

rockportrocket,,, I knew you would finally see it my way!!!!!
All kidding aside , 44 years on the road ? You and your DW ( Bless her soul) must have really enjoyed that life style ! Once you get settled into a house and have your camper at hand , and living in an area you love, I would be quite surprised that after a while you won't just scratch your head and say to yourself , "What the heck was I thinking?" . Life is Good.

Sounds like a couple of 5'vers are going up for sale soon. No need to have wheels if you don't use them.

Oh no, I am keeping my 32 footer for rockport , whether I buy or not. I also have a seasonal at Bob Sandlin lake right on the water. I use the TC for short 2-4 day trips and pull my boat behind it.
And yes, we started fulltiming in 1969 and did until her death in 09 and I continued until last summer.
I wonder EVERY DAY why I quit, but life is what it is and it aint good without her.

44 years must be a record, Maybe you can find a house with room for a RV pad so your full timer friends can visit.

If you come to the RGV, you will find the winter very comfortable. We kid our friends up north and tell them that winter here is a week and a half long, and that means temps in the 60's. We have spent the last 12 winters in Alamo, Texas (just east of McAllen) at Alamo Rec Veh PArk. It is a mid-priced park with a ton of activities and the convenience of being in the middle of the Valley. I you want more info, please send me an email.
