I'm happy to say that after 6 kids, 4 out of college and working and two still at home they spend the vast majority of the time with us. We just spent Easter week-end camping with the two at home and two that are not. We pretty much spent the entire time together.

as a teenager, I preferred being on my own.
we didn't camp with our boys. we toured Europe instead, and they kept pretty close to us most of the time.
I'd suggest finding activities for them.. like white water rafting, horseback ridiing, rock climbing, fishing, canoeing.
But they aren't going to be happy if they are cut off from the internet and/or cell phone use.. it's an addiction.

X2.
I've no house in the city, just a camping tent in the wild.

Well, I raised four boys and now have two teenage granddaughters and I have to say there’s a lot of merit to downtheroad’s comment. But I was always a compulsive hiker and we camped in locations that lent itself to that and exploring. So the boys spent most of their time with the family and didn’t have the energy for too much extracurricular activity afterwards.
The youngest granddaughter is similar in her love for hiking and exploring, the older one less so. We still do a lot of hiking, but now I find they have the excess energy when we get back. So they may do some additional wandering around the campground, I suspect looking for someone their age. The reality is that when they get into their mid and late teens we start losing them to their friends and peers and we can readily see it with the granddaughters. An invitation to the Rockies this summer is still in abeyance while the impact on boyfriends, who predictably aren’t invited, is mulled over.

Our boy will be our first teenager this year and he pretty much stays close to us. When our extended family goes and they have teens they usually wonder off here and there.

Two boys here, 13 and 16. So far we're very blessed in that both of them actually seem to like us (and each other). But I probably should add that all of us would get very bored very quickly hanging out at a campground. We generally only go to places where there's a lot to do in the area. Other than sleeping, we're rarely at the RV more than a few hours at a time.

Most teens that I've seen camping are bored silly and spend their time walking thru everyones spaces and bouncing a basket ball late into the night.
The best ones were quietly walking around with their heads down and thumbs going crazy on their smartphones and texting each other.
