The water pump in my '02 Phaeton runs continuously, but I can find no leaks and there is no water at any faucet. It can't even pump water to the outside shower which is 18 inches from the pump in the wet bay. I have 20 gallons of water in the FW tank. Is the water pump bad? Is there a way to test it independently of the rest of the system? Any opinions appreciated.

sounds like the diaphragm is damaged...

yes, you can test it...one simple way is to hook garden hose to the inlet side and see if it can lift some water out of a bucket...

Our camper has a cut-off valve between the FW tank and the pump... with an inlet to draw antifreeze before the pump. Every season, the first time we use the pump... I forget to open the valve... then wonder why we have no water being drawn from the FW tank.

Does yours have the same setup?

Happy Camping!

Leave a faucet open for a few minutes. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for the pump to push the air out of the lines, and it can't if all the faucets are closed.

If you have a city water / tank fill valve make sure it's not in the tank fill position or any where in between.

I just replaced the diaphragm and lower housing on my Shureflo pump due to leaks. In the process of installing the new part I accidentally got the condition of low pressure and continuous running(never reached cutoff pressure). What I found is that I didn't seat the new diaphragm properly and therefor the mounting screws could not be tightened enough.
I suggest tightening the screws. If that doesn't work remove the screws and diaphragm, lubricate the diaphragm with liquid soap and re-install. If no joy buy a new diaphragm and lower housing. Shurflo can customer service can give a part number and Amazon can get it to your fast.

Bingo. If you have a valve in the wet bay that allows you to fill your water tank by just diverting the water to the tank, ITS IN THE WRONG POSITION. Essentially the water pump is running in about a 20 inch loop, pumping the same water around again and again and again and again and again "usw"

Tuen it back to the opposite position and you should be fine.

I figured it out. I had the city water/tank fill lever in the tank fill position, causing the pump to just suck air through the city water connection. I also had the antifreeze fill valve in the wrong position, so this was all just a matter of not understanding how my coach works. Thanks for your help.
