My gas grill won't get very hot. It takes about 20 minutes for it to get to 400* and won't get any hotter. I have it hooked up to the propane outlet supplied to the outdoor kitchen. It is at the recommended pressure, checked by propane company.
Could the burner become clogged? I don't remember it being this way the first year. Removed the burner and washed it with a grill cleaner solution. Not much improvement. I don't have a hot large blue flame, but a very low blue flame. Have to look closely to see it.
While a part, I saw the gas orifice and was wondering if I should drill this a little larger? Would more propane do better?
Any suggestions?

Yes, it may be the regulator is not functioning properly.
Do not drill out the orifice as the size is for the BBQ design.
That model is only 12000 BTU and it may never get above 400.
If the flame is smaller than last year, then it sounds like a regulator problem.

Unscrew the orifice out and check the hole also I've had to clean the area where the orifice screws in with a q-tip that been dipped in alcohol even once in a while..

Hello,
Try unscrewing the bottle then reconnecting it and let it sit for 5 minutes before you start the grill up. I heard that there is some kind of gas limiting device that can cause the gas flow to be restricted if there system develops a big leak. I have a Webber 220 that I have connected to a 20# cylinder. There is a gas limiting valve in that in the hose at the connector that plugs into the tank.

Yep.
Hook a standard propane bottle directly to your Weber 200 grill (no other regulators in line except for the Weber regulator) and it will most likely work like you would expect.

Have you removed the regulator from the Weber, the camper grill outlet already is regulated at you tanks.

The Weber regulators have been know to fail. I'm on my third now. When the flame is right, I don't think there's a better grill out there.

Agree with the first and second points except that the grill SHOULD be heating up greater than 400 degrees. I replaced the regulator and burner tube in my Q120 - it gets up over 600 degrees.

X2, that's likely your problem. You need to take the Weber's regulator off as you're drawing regulated propane already. A quick test if you want to verify is simply screw on one of those disposable tanks and see how the Weber works. Also, Weber's tech support is really good, you can email them too. Great service.

If you get this figured out post it here please. I have the same issue. I have tried using my 20 lb tank and a single screw on can with the same result. It will barely heat up a hot dog. I have cleaned all the connections, burner tube, etc. and finally gave up and went back to charcoal. Used it one season so I am assuming the regulator is faulty.
