Currently have a Ram 09 2500 4x4 6.7 diesel quadcab with a 3.73 rear end.
Need advice on installing either a banks system or a stronger rear axel ratio--4.10.
Both will be close to the same cost I imagine.

Why?
The Dodge Cummins comes factory equipped with a exhaust brake, a great 6 speed automatic which has tow/haul and manual gear hold features. What more do you think you want??

It is a slippery slope! Bigger exhaust, chip or Smarty, then you need a bigger turbo. Factory exhaust systems handle the OEM power without restricting it. If you want to do anything look into the Smarty! Chris

Banks exhaust will only lighten you pocket book. With that tranny, unless you are towing really heavy, the axle ratio will not have that big of a change. What problem are trying to address? With a 2500 you should not be towing heavy or you will be sinking the rear out of sight. Chris

Are you taking it to the drag strip, climbing a 20% grade, or trying to get 20 mpg (all while towing)?

Those two things aren't related. If your thinking a bigger (louder) exhaust is going to give you any performance gain, it won't. In a turbo diesel you have to add fuel to get more power. Simply opening up the exhaust will not give you a perceptible gain.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Plan on towing an Open Range 35' loaded ~ 13k, which is within the limits of my drivers handbook.
I am just looking to improve towing, minimize or eliminate any overheating problems. My also put firestone suspension support on the rear axle.
Nope no drag strip for me, I hope the hills are much less then 20% and I could care less about loud exhaust.
