Did the key portion of your capture plate break off?

Did the index arm bend somehow?

With the capture plate indexing properly...and the indexing pin running in the template...the hitch head shouldn't be canted. There is a stop bolt that is used to take out any slop...when in the tow position. Instructions for adjustment in the owner's manual...is this bolt improperly set...and binding?

The good folks at pull rite will be more than happy to help you... I'm sure we'll eventually figure it out. Can you post pictures of your capture plate...and the condition of the template, index pin, and indexing arm...

I have a Superglide..and I'm very interested in what you've got going on there. It might be something the rest of us should periodically inspect our hitches for.

Thanks...

I agree with Chuggs, I'd really take a good look at the capture plate and make sure its secure and it good shape.

I think the most important problem is that the hitch head itself is not straight when you are towing straight ahead...this all seems to point to a problem with the capture plate... It's either rotating...which it shouldn't...or the key is not in the hitch plate correctly.

I see that you are new...so forgive me for asking the obvious... Did you install the Superglide capture plate onto the pinbox of your camper? I only ask because I have read of one account where a couple lost control of their Superglide hitch...it did all kinds of damage to thier rig... The culprit was....the dealer never installed the capture plate. Pull Rite very generously paid for thier repairs.

I just ask because it has happened at least one time before.

x2 on the capture plate. I can't see how the head could move if this was installed correctly. I'd stop towing and get this inspected right away by an authorized dealer to avoid any possible future damage or loss.

X2 on the capture plate. Everything you describe suggests you do not have one, (or the wedge broke off), otherwise the hitch head would be locked in the straight ahead position.
Do you have one?
Is it damaged?
If you hook up a fiver with a regular pin box everything you describe makes sense.

BTW - WD40 is NOT a recommended lube for the Superglide sliding mechanism. White grease or a graphite dry lube (Slip-Plate) is required unless you have a newer one with the nylon glide blocks.

I suggest you read these instructions

Example of "no capture plate"

It happens...color yourself lucky if this is what the problem is...and you haven't done lasting damage to your new rig.

You definitely are have a problem with the capture plate or lack of one.

Hey Kaydeejay with the new Superglides that fit the standards rails WD-40 is exactly what the instructions call for, it is even on a decal attached to the hitch itself. States not to use grease but light oil daily. The new Superglides use plastic wear plates that slide on the rails.

There are different lube requirements for the SGs depending on which hitch/version. Follow what what is recommended for yours. Could be a plate problem, but really, call SG for the correct answer.

Yup, that's why I said:-
