I don't mind buying a license in any state I hunt or fish in. I also consider it a donation

For someone like myself who travels almost exclusively in the US with a fishing rod in the coach, it's a real pain not being able to stop somewhere and throw a line in without having to find a place that sells local state permits. In NY state where we spend most of our time, I can buy a non-resident's permit for a reasonal annual price; it would be nice to have a national one.

If you want to fish or hunt in Montana, either pay the fees or become a resident.
Actually, many of us would prefer that you become a resident. We need all the income tax payers we can get!

Tried to move to the Flathead Valley (born in Kalispell) but the wife didn't like living in the mountains. Had to pay $45 for a 3 day fishing license a few years ago.

The state of West Virginia use to grant hunting and fishing privileges for free to senior residents and guess who caught most of the trout come stocking time?

I understand the whole I've paid my whole life why not give it to me for free argument, but come on, I say pay up.

We did this even though we were losing federal dollars because our seniors were off the books. Federal excise tax money is returned to the states based on the number of licensed sportsmen.

WV tried to pass a lifetime senior license for $25. The DNR explained the dilemma and the greatest generation screamed holy hell. Don't take OUR free license away. Finally, after three years, it passed. So at least we are not losing revenue on seniors any more.

I'm pushing 50 and don't want any more federal entitlements.

That is exactly what this 65 or older license would be. Maybe, like stated earlier, if you charge about $1000 per year and split that 50 ways it would not be an entitlement.

Most people don't understand what it takes to manage a state's wildlife resources.

I don't fish but, maybe it's a good idea.
Maybe some look at it as the federal government taking away the rights of states.

Wow,
Who would have thought we were so far ahead here in Alabama. We can buy our fishing license online in about 5 minutes and can print it out. Heck I save a copy to my Iphone.

65 and older residents don't need any license just proof of age and residency ( AL driver's license, etc)

And as for Disabled Vets, Resident Disabled Veterans pay $3 a year until age 65.

"Most people don't understand what it takes to manage a state's wildlife resources."

This may be the most telling answer. I have a lifetime sportsman license here and sit as a club rep on the county conservation council. In NY, the license fees are supposed to go for the fish hatcheries, wildlife management folks, and enforcement. I have never had a problem with the fees going for that. I also purchase nonresident licenses in South Carolina and Florida with my understanding that the license fees are applied for game management. A national license is not going to generate the state funds for those programs. I'll just continue to buy my non resident licenses and let the states use those fees.

A national hunting and fishing license on federal lands and waters.
We own them and pay taxes to support them but we cannot use the resources of hunting especially or fishing without exhorbitant fees to those states.
Locals want to freeze out everyone else so they get their Legislatures to establish out of state licenses costing many hundreds of dollars or more along with requiring local guides etc to hunt. They come to our states and pay higher license fees but nothing like what they force on the very few able to afford their fees.
Our hunting and fishing licenses use to be 7.00 then all the bird watchers etc got govt to charge more from us to give them things they wanted such as trails etc. Then there is the privatize everything bunch who are at work getting a cut and ultimately turn us into another England where only the privlidiged or wealth get to hunt and fish or you set aside a hunk of your income for trespass rights and licenses from the private land holder.

Is anybody besides me trying to get a National fishing license law passed in this election year. I would like to see a National fishing license available to seniors 65 and older where we can fish in any state with just one license.

Is there a PAC or other sponsor for a NFL (National Fishing Licence) in DC? If so who, what, when, where????

I WAS an avid fisherman prior to hitting the road fulltime. I guess I can AFFORD to buy a state licence is 20 different states but it IS such an expensive proposition and would be a nightmare trying to keep up with expiration dates, species stamps and the like...

Our country is definitely big enough for two NFL's
