I have the perfect truck: 1979 F350 4x4 SuperCab, with Cummins diesel power. The best truck, with the best engine.

1992 International Genesis school bus conversion
With 150 K on mine and maintance only cost, I really love mine....escpecially since its paid for, now if only the camper would be this easy to own.......
I wouldn't get rid of my old truck for anything. When I read of the problems of the new trucks, the poor mileage and, most of all, the COST to buy one, I'm thankful I have the truck I have. It only has about 145,000 km on it (90,000 miles) and only does RV work these days. It has all the power I ever need to do whatever I need to do with it and has all the bells and whistles I want, so the power and gadgets of the new trucks do not tempt me. Best of all, it's been paid for for years. I intend to keep it until they use it to take me to the cemetery.
My only fear is that if I ever get into an accident I will never be able to replace it for what the insurance will pay.
I love mine, and I don't really consider it old at 'only' 10 years old. Does everything I've thrown at it, with no complaints. Not even considering a replacement at this point.
I still smile every time I get her polished up and lookin good.

I have a 1990 Silverado 3500, 4x4. Extended cab, with a long bed. It has a 454 and a 3 speed with granny gear. Its got almost 170k miles on it. No frills, but the cruise works, and the a/c is cold. The driver seat has a tear, and the clear coat is flaking off. But this track runs like a raped date! Put it in 4 under, and creeper gear, its pretty much unstoppable. I won't trade it for anything.
i love my old 93 dodge 251,000 miles and could still pull down a house, but alas his body shell might be in the salvage yard by the fall between the rust and abuse by orginal owner he has about had it
'99 F250 Superduty CC SWB ZF6 with a Cummins swap and air ride suspension. 150K miles.
It was stolen last fall, got $6K of damage. I chased the thief and recovered it. Its driveable, but barely. I haven't done much work on it since the theft. I've only driven it half a dozen times.
I replaced it with an 08 F350 King Ranch. The new truck is really nice, but I still love the old one. I was going to part it out, but now I'm not so sure. I might fix it up as a spare truck ?

For me, money sense and love of my vehicle are oxymoron's...
Depends on how much it would cost and then how much more you would
enjoy it with that new engine rebuild?
My 32 year old, 1980, Silverado puts a smile on my face every thing I drive it
As it reminds me of the old mom'n pop grocery store and dad

1980 C10 Silverado given to me by Dad. Was his small grocery/butcher shop truck
I ordered it for him after some heated discussions that he needed a 7,600GVWR (3/4 ton
of that era)
Only got him to get the 'Big Ten', or heavy half (today's HD or superduty)
Just over 500,000 miles. 3rd engine (performance crate with a cam), 2nd tranny
(rebuilt) and new 3.73's
I put in 1 ton helper coils on the rear after seeing brother coming back from
the wholesale house and it was on the bumper stops and the tires squished
They never went more than 50 miles per day. Going/coming to work. Picking up
sides of beef, canned goods, produce market, etc.
Frame is still bent from the time I borrowed it to work on some windgenerators
up in Tehacahapi Mountains. All four corner sheetmetal have dings from it being
both my daughters first ride.
Not worth much, other than sentimental value...am keeping it till either I can't
fix it anymore, or don't want to (not likely)
