I realize that snow season is nearly over, but since moving to Ohio, the wife and I have been looking at a piece of property in Ohio that has a long asphalt driveway out to the public road.

I don't want to pay for a snow removal outfit to clear my driveway, and would rather get the snow scraper attachment on the front of my P.U. instead.

I'd like to plan ahead and get the scraper in the spring/summer so I'm ready for the first substantial snow that blocks our driveway.

Can't say we will get this house for sure. It's a foreclosure and we've put in a bid on it, but if we get the place we'll need to move some snow once in awhile during the Winter.

Saw some setups that have a bracket that mounts on the front of the truck and the scoop/scraper just attaches to it.

Don't need electric/hydraulic controls; just a scraper to make a run down the driveway.

buy a good garden tractor with a blade, or a small tractor.

I agree but put a snow thrower on the PTO. Even with a blade the driveways get pretty skinny comes March in these parts.

Plus with a 4X2 and all that weight up front...no rear traction.

Invest in a small tractor......snow blower and you can use it for other things around the property AFTER you get the place.

First off lets get something straight, you don't need a 4X4 to plow snow. The OP is not looking for a full blown snow plow like a Meyer's or Western unit. He is looking for a lightweight unit without hydraulics.

They make light-duty units made out of lexon that are for home use not commercial use. They come in fixed blade and manual blade and all have an electric winch to left them up and down.

As far as the 4x4 thing goes a good set of snow tires and some weight in the rear is all he would need.
