I looking at a 2010 Jayco Jay Feather Ex-port 17c. I'm very new at camper shopping and I not sure how to know if I'm getting a good deal. Dealer has it listed at $13,995. Nada seems wide range and I'm not sure how useful it really is.

I did do numbers with them and I just don't know. They want to trade me at $11,640 before tax and fees. This price include WD hitch and sway bar. I have a 1994 Jayco Eagle 8 SD(popup). It's basically a bare popup. No air, no fridge, no heat. A couple repaired rips in canvas and the door needs repaired from rot(duck tape is holding bottom trim on..

Any advice on a fair price for this model?

Any help is appreciated.

We all know a dealer will grab a good profit on a sale. Have you ever consider looking on Craigslist.
I picked up a 2011 Palomino Stampede S-238 for $11,500.
If you're not in a hurry, do some shopping around, and who knows !!!!!

BTW, I just saw a few 2010 Jayco Jay Feather Ex-port 17c online in Iowa for $1,000 less than what your dealer is asking.

Yea, I talked to them over the phone. $11,425 camper only w/o hitch equipment and no trade is best offer over hone so far. I don't know. Realistically the dealer is only putting $3-500 trade into my camper I'd guess. Nada has my popup at $5-800 retail.

If this is an unused camper then the price is just fair at best. Pretty much what I paid in 2010 for mine with oven, microwave, AC, with 2 extra stabilizers, WDH and cheap time-based brake controller included.

If it is used walk away unless they move a lot on the price.

A 2 year old 17c for $11200 (WDH is about $400). See if you can find the retail price of a new one and knock off roughly 40%. If it's in this vacinity and checks out to have had no leaks go for it. I believe rvwholesalers sells Jayco's.

Knock of 40% to come up with a trade price or what one should be able to buy it new? The 17c is no longer offered. Not in 2012 and I don't think it was in 2011.

For reference, I paid $12,990.00 for my 2010 17Z Brand new from the dealer in January 2010. It had all the standard options which I think they called the value package - Oven, microwave, awning, etc. Even had aluminum mag wheels! The sticker price was over $18,000

What I did was, I got a quote from RV Direct for the above price and a big dealer about an hour away matched the price. And they installed my pre-bought Equalizer hitch for free when I picked it up.

You may want to look at the 17Z since instead of the U-shaped dinette, you get a Dinette AND a fold down couch!

I don't know if I would say screwed, it's way below list price. It just seems like since it's two years old, it should be discounted a little more.

If it was me, I would go online and get a quote from RV Direct for a new 17Z. At least just to see what you can get a new one for these days. You may be able to use it as a bargaining chip. They ship for free to a few different locations. In my case, it would've been to a dealer in Albany, NY - About two hours from me.

I don't know if you're paying cash or financing, but you might just find a new one to be not a lot more.
