We are thinking about heading over to Biloxi this weekend to do some geocaching.

Any suggestions?

Campgrounds, Restaurants, Sights?

Buccaneer State Park campground in Waveland, MS is back open with full hookups. www.reserveamerica.com
If you want a more "resort" type park in Biloxi, Majestic Oaks is nice but more expensive.

We moved to Biloxi a few months ago. The weather is supposed to be really nice this weekend.

Davis Bayou (Gulf Islands Nat'l Seashore) in Ocean Springs has camping and a great Visitor's Center and hiking. It is close to Wal-Mart, gas and Rouse food store. If you don't camp there, you may want to go over and hike.

I think Cajun RV Park got good reviews in Biloxi. Half Shell Oyster House down the side street (13th St.) from Hard Rock Casino has good food. There is also Steve's Marina in Long Beach, good food with a view of the water and boats.

There is little shopping district in Ocean Springs on Washington St. & Hwy 90 with restaurants. Just over the bridge from Isle Casino and take a right on Washington. Quaint little area.

Nice visitor's center on Hwy 90 in Biloxi in a beautiful building.

While I will not be camping, I am coming to Biloxi for a long week in July also to cache. We are gonna do the bay forts, the USS Alabama, maybe drive over toward the pan handle to see the Blue Angels practice and a full day in NO French Quarter. What other interesting sites are there to see using Biloxi as out hub?

I will 2nd the suggestion for Buccaner state park. I stayed there when we went to Biloxi over the 4th of July and enjoyed the park and it is not to far to go and visit the casino's and explore the area.

We just returned from Biloxi and stayed at the Cajun RV Park. I recommend this park-the staff members were vey accomodating and the park is well maintained. If you have never spent time in the Biloxi area you need to be aware of the trains running closeby. It doesn't bother us but it does bother others.
Be sure to see Beauvoir, Jefferson Davis' last home. It appeared to be completely restored. We enjoyed eating at the White Cap and I think that is in Long Beach. There is a barbecue restaurant close to the campground that had terrible service and the barbecue was poor. The casinos have very good food reasonably priced.

That's where we stay and really like it. When you're driving along the beachfront highway, please notice the wood carvings in the median. They were done by artists after Katrina destroyed so many trees.

My vote is for Davis Bayou Campground in the Gulf Islands National Seashore over in Ocean Springs. It's not far at all to Biloxi. Water and electric hookups, showers and dump station. Very nice spot.
