What a shocker! I expected to see someone slide off the road or something like that. I NEVER expected to see a vehicle just explode! Although I have driven in those conditions, I have ALWAYS gone very slow and have been passed by many many vehicles going like a bat out of hell! I just shake my head and expect to see them on the side of the road in the ditch in front of me in time.
This video, hopefully, will be a warning to ALL drivers to slow down and take it easy so you can get to your destination alive and well.
My condolences go out to all the parties involved in this accident.

Hi All.
First off, almost every driver on that hiway was driving to fast for the road conditions.
I have lived in "Snow Country, (32+ Years total) where the Snow and Ice stays for 6 months of the year, and hardly ever melts down any until Spring. And also in other areas also.
What I have learned over this time, is that people with 4X4's seem to cause most of the problems. Also most of the Truck and Cars I have seen off the road, were in fact 4X4's, All Wheel Drives, and other so called 4X4's.
As to where it is. It almost looks like Hiway #97, that goes thourgh Central Oregon, around the La Pine area, most of the way, before you get to Kalamath Falls But I guess it could be almost any state that has Snow and Ice Conditions.
Slow Down, is the best advice there is for bad road conditions, in any kind of weather, period.

Sad situation. Can't see how anyone in the SUV could have survived.
I live in a rural area and drive into an urban area every day for work. I have two SUV's but years in the FD, Rescue Squad, and the EVOC training we received, helped me early on to learn how to drive in snow. I am constanly amazed how many SUV's pass me like I'm standing still in similar conditions. Even more amazing is how many of them I see stuck in either the ditch or median when it snows.
I do believe many drivers of 4WD and AWD vehicles think they can drive as fast as they want in those conditions.

Google search did not come up with anything definite, but several comments suggest it is from somewhere in Russia.
Definitely a cautionary tale, and a disturbing one!
All of us, especially RV'ers, need to be aware of the possible consequences of a moment's inattention while doing something we give very little thought to.
I try to constantly remind myself "I'm 60 feet long and I weigh 37,000 pounds! Pay attention!"

The driver of the SUV could have just been the victim of the air "push" that he would experience when he tried to pass the box truck, rather than any drifting because of inattention. From my own experience, I have gotten more push from some small box trucks than from a large semi. Just a thought.
