Couldn't you just run the recomended TT's tire pressure?

I got 4 yrs out of the 15" tow masters the first owner put on. He upgraded from Cs to Ds. They had about 7k miles on them when a tread flew off - was still full of air. Tire shop said tow master was bullet proof so I put them on again. They were on the road for 3-4 weeks total (short weekend trips) in 4 yrs and the rest of the time the 5er was off the ground with the tires covered and a sidewall blew while it was being stored for the winter. I went to 16" LTs and I will NEVER buy another ST! Craig

I got a bit over one year out of a set of Maxxis ST tires before they started to separate. They were replaced with Greenball ST tires and they didn't last nine months before separating and tearing up some J-wrap. (Greenball all but laughed at me when I called to see if they would help with the damage repair).
Replaced all with BFG Commerical T/A and they've been on over 15 months.
I am not near max weight (CAT scale ticket) and rarely drive over 60. Generally around 57.
Can't say I'm a tire expert, but this was my experience with ST tires.

I am the third brother owning a 1999 27' fw. Has original gy marathon 225/75R15 (USA made). Have @ 40000 km on them, averaging 5/32 left. Noticed yesterday, one flat, and may have been most of the winter. I'll be replacing them all, (not sure
with what). Keeping the casings for the utility trailer.

have a 2011 cardinal. found out the tires were made in april 2009. at the "welcome" rest area e. bd I-20 entering la. stopped for a b-rm. stop.
cked tires, part of the tread coming off one, big bubble on the other.
4 hrs later back on the rd. again.12,000 miles 0n the tires.
6 days later about a hr. w. of jacksonville, fl.the oter two went. still had more than 50% tire tread left. this time along the side of the rd

My ST tires lasted from the dealer's lot to Edon Ohio for a G114 upgrade. They may have lasted longer, but I will never know...

About 18 months and 4000 miles on our new fiver before one blew and damaged the side. At that time I put XPS ribs on and now can rest a little easier. Ribs are three years old, and still look new.

The ST load range E had 3500lbs rating at 80 psi. The LT load range E tires have a 3042 lbs rating at 80 psi. Yes they fit the same rim.
I only carry 9400 lbs on the tandems or 2350 lbs per tire, so plenty of reserve. Actually the sticker on my trailer only called for load range D tires.
On of the biggest differences in weight ratings between ST and LT tires is the speed rating. ST are rated at a max of 65 mph, whereas my LT's are rated at 99 mph. If you limited the LT tires to 65 I bet they would hold close to the 3500 lbs. If you look up some tire charts that have load ratings at various speeds and pressures you will see the lower the speed, the higher weight a tire will hold.
