Yea, get a 1 ton. Ford does not have a good reputation for diesel motors, so if you are insistent on a Ford stick with gas motors. Stay as small as you are comfortable living in and that will haul your bike. With a gas motor except maybe the V10 weight will be your biggest concern. 3.55,3.73 rear end ratios are good compromises between towing and economy.

I think that any ton , Gas for me, is what i will get...That will allow me to upgrade to a 5er if needed one day ...But for expense sake now go the used toy hauler route pull behind...
Shopping with the wife is one expensive adventure...ughhhhhhhh
First of all your F150 is really a good hauler as long as its in the wieght ratings. You could pull a small toy hauler most likely if you wanted to depending on the wieght. If you go the 3/4 ton route, its really up to you whether you want gas or diesel. Just read past alot of the chest pounding my truck is better then yours from some that you encounter. Although some guys are really just kidding arounding so take it for what it is. Anyway, look for the trailer that your really like and what your pocketbook can handle then match the truck to that camper. Always go bigger if you can to give you more then enough for a bigger camper in the future if possible. Again gas or diesel is very much a personel thing so get what is best suited for your liking, both will do a great job.

I have been searching for a ton , but come up empty so far...
gas is for me, as i don't care for all the maintance a diesel requires....
Def thinking a side entry ramp is best as far as being accessable once we arrive....

That is really false information. Other than taking 12 quarts of oil the maintenance on my Cummins is no worse than on any truck. I still have a fuel filter, an oil filter and an air filter that need changing, still have belts that need looking after. What I don't have are spark plugs, plug wires, some form of spark distribution that can fail at the most inopportune time. Yes, diesel fuel is a bit more expensive, but I also get 11.5 MPH towing my 13,500 pound fiver whereas if I had a V10 it would probably be 6MPG if I was lucky. Your choice, but I would not discount a good diesel if one camp up. And there will be far more of them on the lots than 1 ton V10's.
Intresting...You know...I am reading and looking at some 3/4 and ton diesels, and honestly, the prices vs milage are really great......
i am starting to think I may have been wrong...diesels do out pull and last longer it seems, and can be had a great prices used...

Toy hauler is nice, especially for a heavy HD bike. Not as high and built in ramp to drive into vs. the relatively high truck bed and removable ramps options. Significantly different in terms of convenience. But, toy haulers cost more in general, new and used. And you pay for that garage space with heavier weights and longer RVs.
Ford V10 or GM 8.1L are great towing engines. Trans and axle ratio really don't matter much unless you are into significant 5th wheel weight. Skip the 5.4L/6.0L gassers. The diesels are also great. Skip Ford's 6.0L, or learn enough about them to prevent the problems many are having. Their reputation has brought down used values compared to the Duramax and Cummins of similar conditions and age.
