That's a crock urban legend.

Would you still think it's a crock if you were a passenger in an AirBus that had tires installed below the minimum standards?

I, for one, like to be above minimum standards.

Except for the fact that it actually is a crock.

You have a binding contract with your carrier. The contract allows them to deny the claim in cases of fraud or if the loss occurs during the commission of a crime. All other types of stupidity are covered. Read your policy.

You can get the XPS ribbed for $161.00 per Tire with free delivery from Discount Tire Direct. 888-459-4080

$161, ya right, wishfull thinking...

I've been searching tires and the ribs obviously are my first choice, except for their price.
The Ribs are double that price you posted of $161 on Discount Tire, I just got off the phone with them...
Tire rack has them for $299+ shipping, Discount Tire includes shipping $317...

Michelin XPS
LT245/75R16E1 120R B
$317.00each

That's Discount Tire, NOT Discount Tire Direct. Discount Tire Direct

Ya I know, just got off the phone with them, got a verbal quote of $329. They don't list the Rib on their part of the site. Same place, one is mail order, the other is the actual shops. By the time all is said and done its more or less exactly the same price... and thats almost double the posted $161

That's what I was afraid you were going to say....

X2, replaced my G614's with the R250's last summer... I have over 5k miles on them & love em!

Youd be very happy with the bridgestone R250 and save a bit with purchasing 6 or 7 tires. Tread life is a non issue you'll time out before either one is worn out. I have used several of both at work. I would give a slight edge to the michelin as far as strength but I think the bridgestone weathers better. Really a toss up between the 2 go for price.

One of my deciding factors was that I do 90% desert on some long rocky roads. Sharp rocks and bushes are sometimes unavoidable so it's worth it for me to spend the extra money on a all steel tire. You can compare weights of tires and you'll see the rib or R250 has a LOT of extra beef !

If I did mostly sand and campgrounds in the summer I might concider the BFG comm. Lot's of people running them with no reported issues that I've heard of. Have bout 10 service trucks running the bfg's hopping curbs daily and no issues to report.

Best Online price for Michelin XPS I have found is here.
http://tirecrawler.com/shop/result_tire.php?page=3

You can use the above price to get a lower price from Discount/Americas tire usually as they will price match...

Freight will add some to the price.

I ended up with Bridgestone M895 the all season rated brother /sister to the R250 due to price and wet/cold weather travel considerations.

Hope the Op has figured out the actual GAWR and the actual axle capacities on trailer B4 before purchasing new tires.

The following is a NHTSA Safety Standard;

“To maintain tire safety, purchase new tires that are the same size as the vehicle's original tires or another size recommended by the manufacturer. Look at the tire information placard, the owner's manual, or the sidewall of the tire you are replacing to find this information. If you have any doubt about the correct size to choose, consult with the tire dealer.”

Really need to broaden your horizons a little. With a little reading in THIS thread you will se the OP is NOT sure what axles he has as the trailer is in storage.

You will see that the CERTIFIED gvw for this trailer is 13,000 lbs.

The OP is proposing putting on tires that can carry 18,000+ lbs and that's not including tounge weight.

The OP STATED the axles are stock from WW. At best I would say they are 6k axles.

Have you READ this thread ?

Nope, he's just trying to sell ST tires. That is what his handler's want him to do. Most believe that he is a paid Internet Shill. FE will not confirm or deny this. Take into account that he has used 22 ST tires on his 2003 rig and just about to get another set.

Hmmmmmmm, you decide.

Guys like FastEagle and Chris (and now Chris's alter ego Snowking) blow my mind. They have nothing better to do than fight abought tires. What kind of hobby is that? What kind of life is that? I suppose it truly is its own punishmennt.

Yeah, FastEagle is a troll.

These tire threads bore me to death.

Thanks much for the info! Is there someone special I need to talk to or just call when ready?

Just call when ready, and if you have a problem shoot me a PM and I will get a quote for you.
