Nothing about that in their website - only talks about a frame prep for a bike rack or slide out tray. Are you sure this was factory installed and do you know what the rating is? I can't imagine anything beyond a 1" receiver on that lightweight.

I have one on order and have looked at two different ones at separate dealerships. The hitch is rated at 3000 lbs and 300lb tongue. Plenty for my 16' fishing boat. I have looked at Jayco's website and was surprised it is not listed either. I had my dealer confirm that it came with hitch and wiring and he ensured me it was included. Every pic of the 23.5 I have seen on the web has the hitch installed.

Well that is pretty cool - hope it sets a trend. I've heard of many welders that refused to install one on the lightweight frames.

Man - Thats going to be a long way back to the end of the boat trailer....

These shots off google images from a Chandler AZ Bass Club... The first trailer had a tow hitch welded on the fifth wheel from etrailer.com

Was reading a few post posted on that web site and one post said that AZ had a law that the front bumper of the truck to the rear of the boat trailer could not exceed 65 feet. Bet each state has a different number. Better check that out in your state.

From Dec. 2000 to Dec 2004 I towed my 18.5ft Yarcraft boat/with trailer behind my 3280RL Montana fifth wheel. Towed with Dodge 2500 Cummins from Baja Sur, Mexico to Lac La Ronge, Saskatchewan.. and back...each year.
I had the boat hitch welded to the Montana's frame by an expert machine shop. Never had a problem with the weight or any swaying.

Some states do not allow this type of towing. Minnesota does not!

From this weekend, boat is a Stratos 283 with 150. Prob about 150 lbs tongue weight, I can pick it up. I made my hitch, here are some pics. Camper is a Keystone Springdale 279. I put 350 springs/overloads on my 250 and it does well.

I know that the owner's manual on our HT says that putting any hitch on a trailer coming from the factory will void the warranty. I don't remember if the 23.5 RBS came with a hitch because I wasn't looking at that size of FW. We took our 26.5 and had the frame reinforced and had a big-time hitch welded on, using brackets so we could pull our Crestliner Superhawk 1900 behind it. Big test will come this weekend or so when we go down and pick both of them up from the dealers after warranty work on both.

That would be a good bet. Here in Montana the maximum overall length for a truck towing two trailers is 75 feet.

How do you keep rear tires on that thing with the nose so far up in the air?

Just avoid the 5ers designed as lightweights that have trimmed weight from the frames. If the name of the trailer has anything like "lite", "helium technology" or something similar they are usually not suitable for a hitch.

Also add the boat weight to your 5er and make sure your hitch has enough carrying capacity for both combined.

Helium technology has nothing to do with the frame. It is still a full Lippert steel frame. I have a hitch on mine and it does just fine.

I didn't know that - I did notice the Montana HT axles are lighter duty along with the wheels and tires compared to it's full weight Montana counterpart. I don't know what all they did to lighten it up.
