There are some neat little burgs on #20, one of them being Winthrop. For RV parking, it's the west end of town, in a city park, then walk back. Western themed town with just a bunch of stuff going on all of the time. If you are in the area in the summer and on a weekend...both eyes open. Highway #20 is THE route for motorbikes and sports car runs.
Just east of Winthrop is Twisp and they usually have a Saturday Farmers Market. Hanks, on the east side of town, has 'to die for' smoked meats.
When you go west..or are on the west side of the Cascades, at the western end of 20, is Anacortes. And in that area, you will find Deception Pass State Park. Great camping..reservations ARE required for summer time...but really, it's the bridge and you want to do that going south. It is a real 'breath taker inner'. The driver can't be looking tho...you'll understand when you get there.

I like to explore the area around Winthrop. However most of the roads are better driven in a car or suv than large RV. Still area ranchers must pull horse trailers on the backroads. One time we took a minor road into the hills just SE of Winthrop and passed a large number of horseback riders. It was a club gathering, which was camped just off a major FS road in the area.
The fall the area is also popular with deer hunters. Once I was camped at Lone Fir, and woke to find a deer carcass hanging from a tree at the adjacent campsite.

If you have the time you may want to do what is called the Cascade Loop. Hwy 2 west and Hwy 20 east. Then you can do the Meathow Valley and stop in Patheros (sp.). You can park with water and electric right on the river for practically free. Down (or up) 97 a or b makes little difference to Wennachee. Confluence S.P. is great if you can get in there in the summer. Head to Chelan. Lakeside RV Park is a city run park with FHU. Leavenworth has Icicle Creek just outside of town. It is worth at least a day. Come down through Everett and take the ferry over to Whidbey Island. Head north on 20 from there. Sorry but there are just too many places to see, stay and things to do to list them all. If you want to e mail me with specific questions I would be glad to give an opinion.
