Looking for recomendations for camping in Tobermory this summer. A few years ago we spent a few nights at Miller lake, but we want to be closer to town. Any suggestions for a place to stay for a week. We aren't set-up for dry camping at Cyprus Lake.

We have stayed at Cyprus and Lands End which is close to the town. It is not too bad. Would go back. Lands End Park

It has been awhile (1998) but we enjoyed Lands End as well.

Another for Lands End. Nice and clean, close to town but can be hard to get into. Happy hearts is another private owned cg nearby. It's more open field though and seems more for seasonal campers. Another is Tobermory Village. It was ok with lots for the kids to do but we felt it very restrictive. The owners and their kids policed the place like a prison camp. Someone was always watching your every move, even hiding in the bushes.

We stayed at Tobermory Village in a 40' DP. Nice clean park well run and there is lots to do for kids. It was close enough to walk to town although it was a bit of a hike. I would stay there again but my only advice would be to watch for water spouts o the side of the roads. They are very close and the roads have some good bends in them. It was the only time I scratched the lower bins on my M/H on one. It was not a good start but the park is very nice.

Lands End Park :
1.Basic Campsites
Do not have electricity or water services on the site though communal water taps are nearby. They are generally smaller and best suited for tents or small camping units. They are wooded sites with a fine gravel surface. A fire pit and picnic table are provided.

2.Regular Serviced Sites
Provide 15/30 amp 110 volt electricity and water hookup at the site. They are suitable for smaller trailers or motorhomes under 25 feet in length. A fire pit and picnic table are provided.

3.Premium Serviced Sites
Provide 15/30 amp 110 volt electricity and water hookup onsite and are generally more spacious, accommodating larger trailers or motorhomes. A few also have 50 amp 220 volt electrical service. Some of them offer a crushed stone pad surrounded by grass, however most are wooded with a fine gravel base. A fire pit and picnic table are provided.

I've no house in the city, just a camping tent in the wild.

We were there two years ago, checked out as much of the area as we could. I picked a park by looking at pictures on the net and map locations and we stayed at Red Bay...We found the pictures were taken back in the 1900's. We almost got stuck in our site, I am sure there were some nice sites, but we sure did not have one, I could not and would not recommend this place to anyone. The owners were nice enough, but it did not make up for the rest. So I have to say stay away from Red Bay....unless you like to rough it.
