Saw a diesel pusher pulling an old VW Bus today. Appeared to be in pretty good condition. Don't see a VW Bus as a tow vehicle every day.

I have been thinking about making my 67 VW bug a toad, but my wife said that she is just not "feeling it". I think it would look cool pushing my 40 footer.

Do a search for Manx Dune Buggy, she might like that a little better, and a little less weight than a 2,200 pound bug.
I have a Manx, full length, with a 1600 CC single port, to pull behind my motorhome.

I've thought about one also. It would make a great toad, light weight, plenty of room, and good gas mileage. I would set mine up with the fishing gear and still have room for the dog. Paint it the old Hippy colors with the "Happy Face" on the front and flowers on the side.

i agree. A really cool toad. A great hobby car too. I grew up in buses and learned to drive in one and rebuilt several motors with my Dad. They are very light, especially the first generation. The 2nd gen weighed only about 2,700 lbs I think. A new Beetle probably weighs more. Extremely easy to work on and cheap to maintain. Underpowered, slow, noisy, hot in summer, hotter in winter with the oil heater option! Bare bones transport at its dependable best.
HEy! They are gas pushers! to Ebay Motors I go...

Thirsty, noisy & clunky. She ain't pretty, but she sure is fun!

Anybody remember what kind of mileage the vw busses got. Had one for a short while(camper bus), and in High school had a good friend that had an old split window one. Loads of fun. Thinking of maybe getting one to play around with(growing my hair really long and putting some flowers in DW's hair). Gary

A couple of years ago we camped next to a fella at the Lodi Elks lodge. He was in a ountry Coach with a VW bus painted to match the coach.

In fact the beetle did not get that great of mpg. Had several, but only one bus.
