I want to replace the older CRT TV that we use outside of our TT... Which Flat Screen TV (24 to 32") will give better picture (brightness) and performance in outdoor conditions.. a LCD or LED?

Either one should work about equally well.

LED is going to be lighter weight and thinner. You can control the backlight on either but I prefer the LED. It is also a bit more expensive. Where weight can be an issue LED is better. Also takes less power so if operating off inverter on battery that may be a consideration.

X2...either will give about the same outdoor viewing experience.

Some TV's have better antiglare features than other. That whould be my main search criteria if I were looking for an outdoor TV.
Might check out this links for some info:
outdoor TV
From a quick search on google it looks like the "OUTDOOR" TV's are quite expensive because they are often waterproof and meant to be permanently outside. This is probally overkill for your application.
Might look at some of the aftermarket anti glare kits that you can put on any TV to help reduce the glare. Seem much more reasonable.

FYI: LCD and LED are the SAME! Both are LCD displays, the only difference is that LED uses LED's as the backlight source....

As mentioned, for outdoor use screen glare is more likely an issue than light source.

Before you buy, take a listen. I bought a Toshiba 32" with the intention of using it outside at football tailgates. It has a good picture but the sound is so weak there was no way to hear it over the ambient noise. Bought a sound bar but this tv doesn't even have and audio out hook up. Had to run audio output from my DirecTV receiver to the sound bar. Just something to keep in mind when shopping. Some of these super thin tv's may have a compromised sound system.
